Ok, the videos are finally available on YouTube. Sorry I don't have the best camera, I hope it works. To me these looked pretty good in 1080P on the 11.6" MBA, 2GB RAM. Both also using Google Chrome, but I did also install the latest flash in Safari.

Here is the first one, Transformers in HD, as requested by re2st

Here is a few seconds of Avatar in HD after a poster above complained about the Apple Store MBA not being able to play it on the 11.6".
(Note: I am shaking in this one a little due to me holding my iPhone 4).

Let me know what you think; I may not be noticing what others may because I am not that picky/observant.

The amazing thing about this all is that when I watch YouTube videos or Flash videos on my Alu uMB my fans go crazy, but on my MBA it is quiet and pretty smooth.

SWEET!

Thanks so much! I think we agree that your videos confirm that the 11" new Air CAN play YouTube HD 1080p full screen smoothly, stutter-free, providing that flash is updated to 10.1.

BTW, that was Safari on base 11", right?

I would definitely try to exchange it at the store first, but it probably won't work since it's a custom configuration. Apple is pretty good with exchanges of unopened goods, so I'm sure you will get what you want.

I got the base 11" config with 4GB upgrade.

Hey, don't forget the update on your 11" once you have received it.. ;)

This was using Google Chrome, but I have Flash 10.1 and tested in Safari just now and it is smooth as well.

I have a 2.13GHz 13" 128GB SSD MacBook Air (previous model) and it struggles with even 720p YouTube. I don't think the 1.4GHz 11.6" is going to do much better especially with 1080p, but you never know, the accelerated nVidia 320M graphics might give it the extra boost to handle it. I've got my 1.6GHz/4GB RAM/128GB 11.6" on order right now, I went for the spec'd out machine to give it whatever extra boost is possible to give best performance on the little ultraportable. I sure hope it can play YouTube 1080p, the only thing I would be concerned about it heat and eating up battery life quickly. Estimated max of 5 hours isn't tht great, when playing 1080p YouTube it's probably 1.5 hours!
