seriously wondering what supplies in the stores will be on the 21st? For those of us who may not get their pre-order by next Friday, wonder if better chance getting in store lol... i can't believe i'm at the conniving stage, lol being patient sucks.
Apple stores will have launch day stock. How many units stocked for each configuration will be the question. I wouldn’t want to be the person showing up to get a 256GB WiFi version and being told by the staff the only models left are the 1TB and 2TB 5G versions.
I've had good luck getting supply-constrained stuff in-store in the past e.g. my iPhone pre-order was at least 3-4 weeks behind and I got it in-store a few days after launch, so even if you don't get it on the 21st there's usually a steady trickle of supply over the following days/weeks (have to keep checking). I'm hoping to get mine sooner this way.
I find stores tend to stock more of entry level wifi than high end. Back in 2017, you could easily 64-256GB Wi-Fi iPad Pros on release weekend (Best Buy and Apple Store) but I couldn't find 512GB LTE in-stock near me.
I bet there will be stock, I also bet people with June dates will go the Preparing to Ship on May 20th, so you can't cancel. But the 12.9 may be tougher, but will be plenty of 11's.
