Yeah, I'm not talking about just converting RAW images to JPEG. I'm talking about manipulating the RAW file to prep it for professional submission - which might include curves, levels, touchup tools (healing, etc.), possibly some filters, swapping out backgrounds with content aware, and I'm looking forward to playing with the new puppet warp when I upgrade to CS5. All of this with "layers piled high" as our friend above says, and all on 21MP RAW images.

That's my definition of "serious" photoshop.

I am wondering same thing as you! Currently working on late MBP 13 2009 and lightroom is lagging sometime! Trying to do some video editing from my 5D Mark II is a nightmare! I was gonna go for the MBP 15" 2011 but it will be super heavy! May be Ill pick the MBA for photo editing on "the go" and adopt the iMac one of these day.......Apple just keep emptying my wallet!

Buy Pixelmator!.......its way better the adobes overpriced junk
Are you a photographer?

Pixelmator is great for what it is.. i've owned a copy a long time.. but it doesn't come close to photoshop... It doesn't really even compare well with photoshop express.

I second this in a big way. Pixelmator is for basics, Photoshop is for beasts :)

oh God pleaseee steve make 8GB of ram available through BTO.

i'm currently using 17" 2.66 c2duo with 128gb ssd and 8gb of ram. i make tshirt design which is big file and really need the 8gb of rams.

i recently bought a 27" acd so i don't really need a big ass screen again for a notebook.

wish to convert to 13" mba with 8gb of ram and a sandy bridge.

I'm there with you. Looking to shed my 17" C2D MBP for a 13" MBA. Really hoping for an 8GB option.

i don't know what kind of processing are u guys doing... but my 11" 1.4 with 4gb ram lagged quite a bit when editing photos in lightroom/photoshop...

Good point. I have that issue with my 17" C2D MBP, which necessitated an upgrade to 8GB. It's better now. 4GB was painful!

Damn, yu quoted before I took the gentler approach!

Anyway, barptch process some raws into tiffs, run scripted filters, pass to photoshop for step sharpening and output prep...that's some relatively heavy lifting, but not even close to what some do!
