I just bought my i9 1tb on Amazon warehouse deals

I’m kind of surprised that the 3000€+ version still comes with 16gb of ram, so maybe yeah they’ll just refresh the specs.
Intel has the new 10th gen professor i9 out too, so we might see a bump in specs just to keep it competitive with the rest of the line up. Not that Apple has cared about this too much lately, but I have to think they weren’t too happy releasing the 16” with the same exact processor of the 15”.
That’s Intel fault of course. The 10gen i9 is still 14nm btw, dunno how much more perf they bring.

Anyway, to surmise, I hope they release a 32gb more future proof top of the line and I hope they do it in my 30 days return period so May 20 :D

ps. They definitely need to update the 13” line up soon since they’re still on 8th gen cpus and as of right now the air overlap in power is pretty strong. Another point in favor of a 16” update imo

I expect Arm will be the standard soon.

People here have been saying this for the last 2 years, at least. I'm not in any hurry for it, I still enjoy the occasional casual game in Windows through BootCamp and I think there's a chunk of the population still wanting Windows support for some purpose. Not really the topic for this thread though...

Have you peeked at the 16" specs? There IS a 32GB version! If you mean in the 13"? Well, it seems an update to those is releasing for pre-order in an hour, but only up to 16GB...

anyway what I meant in my prev post is the 3000$ top of the line should be 32gb by now

First of all, this is my first post so I'm very happy to participate in this community!

I know this topic has been already on the forum, but after all the CV19 events and the many hardware issues that the MBP 16'' seems to have, do you think it is possible that Apple announces a refresh (better cpu, fixed issues and maybe the mini-led screen)?

I'm currently writing my PhD on a MBP with butterfly keyboard and it is an obnoxious experience.. I have to many keys that are stuck and some of them have the double letter problem.. It is really annoying to keep checking if I have left a letter. I could buy the current version but I think that it's better to wait for the refresh and fixed version.

Please, share with my your research, your guesses and your predictions! (-:

I'm in the market for a MacBook Pro 16" myself. Haven't had a personal laptop in years but I need one again.

A refresh is indeed coming and I believe it will be around October/November. If you are able to hold out then waiting is ideal as a 10th gen Intel chipset is a bigger jump than 8th was to 9th gen.

The only real concern is how drastic the jump to ARM MacBooks will be. MacBook Pros with AMD Ryzen sounds amazing (though I know TB3 support with AMD isn't as widespread since Intel controls it even though they don't want royalties--maybe this is where USB 4 comes into play). I would prefer the AMD route over the ARM route on MBPs.

All in all, 10th gen Intel MBP 16" is the way to go if you're not in an emergency situation.

10th gen H chips is literally no jump, just like 8 and 9. Still the same 14nm process, not the 10nm process used in lesser 10th gen chips like U and Y series.

All you’ll get is the new igpu, which isn’t much use when you have a dGPU that’s many times more powerful anyways.

Imagine ignoring a cpu that can hit 5.3 GHz turbo (the 10th gen Intel i9 is the world's first mobile processor to exceed 5 GHz) and WiFi 6 lmao.

I don't track the specs close enough to know. All I know is that when I looked at the site when writing my post it simply said to check back at 5 AM PDT to pre-order a 13" MBP.

where is this?
I was looking at the Apple site when I was posting YESTERDAY, and saw that message. I know nothing more than I saw a message to check back later in the day to preorder. I know nothing more than that...

"bro", follow the thread. I posted that in reply to a message that was in reply to one I posted yesterday morning...

"bro" still nothing of what you are talking about... doesnt matter when you posted

I'm not sure what this sentence means, but let me point something out to you.

This quote below was from a post I made on Friday at 7 AM EDT. When I was writing that post I went to look at the 13" MBP on Apple's site to confirm what I was typing and when I clicked on the "Buy" button so I could try to configure a laptop I got a message that I would have to come back at 5 AM PDT (or 8 AM EDT) to pre-order a unit.

Was that message from the Apple site an error? Maybe, but I don't know what, if anything, was changing to cause there to be a pre-order notice.

So, I'm not sure what your misunderstanding was. In the first post of mine that you quoted, you asked me where I saw the pre-order notice. I responded that I had seen it on the morning of the previous day. You then said that the post I responded to was less than an hour prior. I suggested you look at the times of the posts...

Well, usually when a device opens up for pre-order that means there's an update to that device. I was just reporting that I saw a pre-order notice for the 13" MBP. I don't know what's BS about an observation I made...

bs means you post things without proof, does that make more sense?

I'm waiting for the MBP 16 refresh as well; but hopefully not for the 10th gen CPU upgrade. I hope the refresh will come with the much rumored mini-LED display. And I really hope they slim the top bezel (just like they did for the side bezels) as well with the next refresh as it really look outdated in 2020.

The mini-LED iPad Pro is rumored to be delayed until 2021 because of supply issues. I think we can assume the MBP will be even lower on the priority list for the mini-LED upgrade. And I don't think Apple will wait that long to launch the Ice Lake chips they have ready to go, hell, Intel already showed off Tiger Lake at CES and it's coming soon.

That leads me to believe, the next refresh will be Ice Lake, Magic Keyboard, and normal LED screen, only question is if it stays 13.3" or increases in size to 14.1" just like the 16" did. The refresh after that, late this year or early 2021, should be Tiger Lake and mini-LED I think.

You mean that first we'll see a 13-14inch w Ice Lake mbp, and maybe late this year or 2021, a refresh of the 16th, w/o a minor refresh in 2020 of the 16inch, is that?

Looks like an update is imminent, either before or at WWDC in June. Here and in MacWorld etc.

I have the 16" but I would love the 13" 2020 and I'm hoping it'll reach performance of the 2019 15.4" MacBook or close enough hah!

Just to clear up any confusion, what you were seeing was the Apple Store going down for the iPhone SE pre-orders - the 13” remains unchanged from its Mid 2019 refresh.

According to some reports it looks like they’re going to 14 & 16” instead of 13 & 15” in this next iteration. 👍
