Let me look into my crystal ball...

sorry, it's foggy. But maybe you should wait anyway on the high chance that a new one will come out next year. Yet again, one will come out again likely in 2011 too. So maybe wait for that. Oops, you should probably wait for 2012. Or 2013? It goes on.

They haven't announced anything about that except for that iPhone 3GS which was released last July '09. Of course right now they're trying to sell the current version mostly before even announcing anything ;) but since you're at Macrumors, I'd say there will be a new version next year.

Welcome to the world of technology, there will always be new things out there next year. You'll just have to learn to be content with what you have, you can't have your iPhone be the greatest thing out there forever, unfortunately. I think that it is very safe to say that there will be a new iPhone next year, but that won't make your iPhone do anything less than it already can. My now outdated iPhone 3G works just as well as it did when I bought it :)

Yeah they made an anounncement that it hasn't been announced yet, sorry I just had to.

Anyway is too early for apple to announce anything yet. They just released the 3gs almost 3 months ago. But the probability of another one coming out next summer is high. Just get the 3gs, why wait!!!!!

Why don't you

check the other 10+ threads on the same thing. Seriously big money is in June we will know for sure till at least April there is no point in asking.

I would say yes, likely to have dual core, better camera, background apps, better in many ways, that's why I'll stick with my 3G until next year.

I would say yes.

The 3GS has basically brand spankin' new hardware in an old case design. My feeling is that Apple is going to put that new hardware into a new case. Maybe they'll keep it the same, maybe they'll bump the specs, but I think they're definitely going to introduce a new design.

Well if you look at the history, so far there has been a new one every year. Seems most phone company's are doing it so its kinda like your new car. It is the older model a year later.

I heard that Steve Jobs has made so much friggin' money that he feels there is no need to make any more models. He's getting rid of the design team and focusing totally on production. He won't stop until 5 billion iPhones have been sold.

Seriously, the iPhone has had a new model every year for the past several years, so odds are that we will see a new one next June.

The short answer is yes.

There will be another 50-100 threads just like this before the next iPhone comes out.

I would just add that we're really only about two and a half months into the product cycle for the 3GS. It's not like it's been out for nearly a year and the new one will be out next month. You're really talking about waiting through 80% of the product cycle.

You had it right the first time.
