are you sure that wasn't the "hiPhone"? my friend bought one off eBay and it looked and functioned almost like an actual iPhone. but just couldn't compare

My sources say no.
My sources say yes. :p :D

Agreed. While we don't know for certain, Apple has introduced a new iPhone every summer for the past 3 years. So, I would say there is a very good chance of a new iPhone coming out in 2010.
Well put ... and agree.

I would expect a new iPhone model to be introduced around June of each year.

I would also venture to say, that many will end up upgrading their iPhones on a 2 year cycle to coincide with their contract renewal.

I'm still pulling for one of these:

seriously.... they are going to skip 2010.... no new iphone til 2011.... really.... i talked to steve last night....

i want to know because i want to get a 3gs this year bbut i dont want to get it if a new one comes out a year later.so will there be a new one? or is it not announced yet?

No offence, but I can't believe there are still people who ask a question like this.

So come next year, you're ready to get a brand-new iPhone, and then you hear the rumour that Apple will release a newer iPhone in 2011. What are you going to do then? Wait it out another year? You'd end up buying nothing forever.

Waiting for a new iPhone just because of a rumor is a bag of hurt. I know the iPhone is refreshed every year around June/July, so the most logical months to buy one are from its release date all the way to Early March. Buying an iPhone after mid-March (usually the next iPhone software is announces around this date) means you are very prone in buying old tech and missing out what in 3 months could be much better.

yes, and you'll need to wait until the "end of summer, 2012 for the LTE function to be enabled.

and then, you'll only be able to use it if you live in one of the 4 major cities that will have LTE service.

But nonetheless, you'll see signs along the roadside touting att as having the best nationwide LTE network,

Agreed. I haven't known Apple to invest in dying tech, and CDMA seems to be of that variant. In the case of LTE, it will (most likely) be rolled out slowly over a year, and even the only have limited coverage. If Apple was dreaming of a Verizon iPhone, it wouldn't be until they have their network become something that would be a true upgrade from AT&T in the data sense.
