Not sure how new phones make older ones not work anymore. It’s nice that upgraded new cars don’t make older cars not work anymore... too bad phones didn’t work like that.

I don’t think it has anything to do with that. People will buy iPhones every day when they need a new iPhone. Not everyone needs an iPhone at the exact same year and day. If they don’t make a new iPhone in 2021 that doesn’t mean no one will buy a new iPhone in 2021. Macs aren’t upgraded every year but people still buy them. Sure a new model gets people excited but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t sell without that new model. They will release a new one every year because people are willing to pay for it. As long as people are willing to top dollars, they will always release a new version.
New phones have no effect on older models. There’s no radio interference or anything crazy like that caused my new iPhones that affect older ones. Sure the older ones may not have some of the features so people will want to buy a newer model but that’s also the same with cars. It’s nice that upgraded new cars don’t make older cars not work anymore... too bad phones didn’t work like that.

In cases like that it would be progress and time that would affect the older phones, rather than new phones themselves somehow making the older ones not work.Maybe they are more referring to things ike Apple support or cellular network issues e.g., cellular providers shutting down 3G networks.
The number of people that notice or care about the notch is a lot smaller than you think. Outside of tech forums, it's a non issue. If you asked an average iPhone user on the street about the notch, they would probably ask you what you were talking about. That’s why I think they’re going to hold off on eliminating the notch for as long as possible. That’s the next obvious desirable upgrade and design change.
That’s well and good. The notch personally doesn’t bother me either. I quite like it as a design element, especially when developers find unique uses for it. (There’s artwork on the App Store for a Spongebob game where the tomato lines up perfectly with the right side of the notch which looks amazing.)The number of people that notice or care about the notch is a lot smaller than you think. My original reply was in fact commenting on that initial post.If there wasn't "progress and time" there probably wouldn't be (the need for) new phones. Progress, time and the resulting new phones have led to old phones not just becoming obsolete but, in some cases, no longer even being able to work.
This was more Apple OC's issue. Perhaps you can discuss/debate it with them.
