My bet is that yes, it is very possible it could happen before the end of the year; But close to end of year - Or very early next - like January time. That's my prediction, but it is just a guesstimate

Apple should do this. Otherwise, what's the point of promoting the 7,1 as a modular Mac Pro?

IMO, they will try to sell parts, and see if this is a good way to run the Mac Pro line. At least I believe this is what they want to try at this moment.

Tweet by AMD Marketing Director Frank Azor

More news about the impending release of Big Navi (AMD W6000X, W6700X, W6900X) tomorrow!?

Meanwhile AMD’s first answer to the NV launch looks more like this. Coming along with the suggestion to just go out a bit more...instead of gaming or developing proper gpus or whatever.

I would strongly recommend not to as the bike is an absolut piece of crap and pushing it to not even limits could lead to serious injuries. But maybe it can be built into a 7,1 anyhow...until something more usable comes along from the brand.

Completely agree. 7,1 is marketed as modular machine and should be able running the latest and greatest components because there's the only way Apple still profitable from 7,1 which had the smallest sales.

But I wonder Apple Tax would be hampering those MPX module. As Big Navi driver support coming out, I think user can start putting off shelf GPU, albeit less neat as MPX modules, and off course this would bring benefit to OC'ed 5,1 owner running with newer unsupported MacOS.

They just low end bike with AMD logo slapped on...just resembling MTB but actually not usable on trails.

Somehow I would expect to see an aero road bike to get some message about performance across.

Or perhaps that there IS the message about their GPU lineup? A slow, heavy thing that can only get up to speed when going downhill and with a strong wind at the back? ;)

lol and as is typical AMD fashion, the bike is an absolute turd. Why would a company like AMD even bother to attempt to sell something like that? The thing looks like a Walmart level CCM bike.

Hilarious. I really wish Apple and Nvidia had a solid relationship. Nvidia is on a whole other level versus AMD - probably why Nvidia told Apple to "shove it" I'm sure.

Apple also needs to step up their game. This 7,1 is beautiful but I'm really hoping this transition to Apple SOC across the board is truly a high-end solution with great performance and stability across the board. It sounds like it could end up being amazing ... though, so does AMD before every release until you wake up and realize AMD is merely catching up to where they should've been in the previous generation vs. Nvidia. Sad actually

From the company that brought you the BridgeOS/T2 system hangs that stuck around for years? LOL. I find in general Apple has a really hard time admitting their own screwups. I recall the 2011 MBP GPU desaster very well and that it took them years to finally issue a recall program - or more recently that abomination of a keyboard they ended up scrapping.

Hard to imagine they will be able to do a custom CPU with a lot of onboard hardware acceleration and the software support for that without any issues. I'm guessing the whole thing is just loads more complex as soon as you are able to hook up third party equipment and a host of legacy solutions. Perhaps on iOS it's a different situation entirely.

Perhaps you're right, but at least with their iPads and iPhones you can't deny they are by far the most stable, fast and well designed tablets and phones on the market. Period. Hardware and software wise, so just basing it on that alone makes me think that once Apple has more control over the entire system design we'll see some improvements.

The iPads and iPhones I have literally stay on 24/7 for years at a time without a single glitch which if they move that platform experience to Macs, I see no reason why they couldn't get it to the same level.

But that's the thing isn't it - with these computers you would expect to be able to connect all kinds of devices, run all sorts of thirdparty software, some of it rather intrusive. In a Mac Pro - ARM or not - I'd still want to install controller cards, 3rd party GPU's and whatnot.

My only iOS device is an iPod :) so I'm not exactly up to scratch as to what you can do with their tablets but my guess is it's all a pretty closed up system with perihperals as exciting as ... a pen? Surely the opposite of what we want from a computer that is more than a netbook.

Well more like a low end bike from fifteen years ago. Using some 3$-seatpost like this which could easily make it's way straight trough the saddle right up your a** if you drop too hard in 2020 ist plain unbelievable!

My 27-year-old Kona has better components and is probably more capable than this AMD mountain-style bicycle.

Given the assumed MSRP for the retail 6900XT, I can't see it being under $2000 for the presumptive "pro" MPX version

You could get 5700XTs in September or so of 2019. macOS support was added in 10.15.1 in November 2019. w5700x MPX was available to purchase in April 2020
