Honestly !! If some dude said a couple of years ago that Apple should incorporate a Phone in to the iPod ..... y'all would have said it wasn't necessary and that nobody would buy it !! :D

You think? People have been wanting an iPod Phone since the iPod came out practically.

Though this does strike a certain point, maybe all of these somewhat ludicrous expectations from Apple (blu-ray and aluminum mice) are based on there not being any great product on the horizon.

Let's not rice out the iMac.

You can have it all in your dreams...
I often do !! ;)

My point was if you are waiting for one then go do something else as it might take you a lifetime to get a iMac packed like this.
True ..... I shall keep waiting and hoping until my personal "Ultimate" iMac arrives ..... until then I'll stick with my present iMac/XPS combo and keep watching Steve's announcements !!

And this smiley '' in your sig just makes you look like a spoiled kid not having what he wants and making big noise about it.
You are half right dude, I am indeed a spoilt brat who wants all my toys to be the best possible ..... the other half of me is pissed off at Apple for not offering a product which would significantly improve their sales and market share ..... which is important to me as I not only buy Apple merchandise, but also Apple Stock ! :p

Does the OP actually except Apple to ever put any of that crap on a consumer level iMac, that is geared towards the average computer user? That's just crap that most people don't need or want.

Criminy @#$%& hell, I get tired of this line of thinking. I've been using/buying Macs for 15+ years and even I get freakin' fed up with the Mac fanatic doublespeak around here.

Gee, we love to spout off about how the higher prices on Macs is justified because "they're the BMW" of the computer world, but when someone makes reasonable requests for Apple to keep pace with the rest of the computer world or expects something a step up above the average, we hide behind these disingenuous arguments about how the iMac is a "consumer level" machine and you shouldn't expect too much.

Well, guess what? BMW is not a "consumer level" car and any Mac over $1000 isn't "consumer level" either. The rest of the PC world is seeing consumer level machines in the $400-800 range, many of which include displays and keyboards/mice (which undercuts even the argument that the Mini should be excused its shortcomings for being "consumer level.') The iMac is not a consumer level machine.

It's outdated before you open the box. Live with it.
True, but I'd rather the GPU was only 2 months out of date as opposed to 2 years !! ;)

USB is on every object that uses them?
True, so why bother even integrating an iSight or Speakers or even DVD Drive, right !?

HA! Blu-ray is DEAD. Blu-ray was DEAD when Apple announced rentals. Yes, the system for digital rentals and purchases is preliminary, but in three years, Blu-ray will be DEAD.
Nonsense dear boy ! Downloading is nothing more than hype right now, and will continue to be so for at least a decade ! You do realise people still buy Newspapers and Magazines despite the Internet !

Then get a Mac Pro. You can upgrade it with all you want.
In which case I might as well buy a PC (which is what 90% of potential iMac buyers do !! :p)

This is a iMac not all-in-the-world-you-can-imagine-in-one-box.
I'm only imagining what other, far less capable manufacturers, are producing right now ! If a Dumbass company like Dell can integrate a TV Tuner/BluRay Drive/Media Reader ..... why can't an Intelligent company like Apple ?? ;)

Besides seems you have no idea about 'space management' as few of your 'requests' would take space that is in high demand in this type of equipement.
Others can do it, therefore so can Apple ..... I really couldn't care less if the back of the iMac was 5mm thicker !! :)

Does the OP actually except Apple to ever put any of that crap on a consumer level iMac, that is geared towards the average computer user? That's just crap that most people don't need or want.
All that stuff is NOT crap, it's frikkin standard on many PC's now FFS !! Since when was a TV Tuner NOT a consumer feature ? Since when did a TV Tuner NOT become something people need or want ..... there is a whole TV Card industry out there in case you didn't notice ..... indeed there are several companies which produce Tuners purely for Mac's !!

Al Mouse? No way, it would get too cold.
So make it out of plastic..... just match the frikkin colour !!

Media reader? Hook up the USB cable. Having more holes in the iMac for this would just confuse the average computer user.
Maybe you are so dumb that having a small slot underneath the DVD Drive for SD Cards would confuse you ..... however most other (non-Fanboy!) people aren't !! :D

TV Tuner? Why would Apple ever do this? The HTPC market is such a small one.
So is the Apple market in general ! Maybe Apple should just close up shop according to you !! :p

Blu-Ray? Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it until software gets to be so large that it requires it to be shipped on it as opposed to a few DVDs. Otherwise, Apple has no incentive to really put it in. I don't think enough people care about watching them on their iMac.
I bet you said the same thing when CD Drives where being upgraded to DVD Drives !!

eStata? The average user just doesn't need it. A power-user can build a separate server/nas.
Maybe we should all just stick with USB 1.0 and never upgrade/improve anything ever again !! :p

What's with the iSight cover? Really? Is the isight burning a hole in your cornea or something?
It would be an unnecessary yet very nice added touch of quality, and an attention to detail that Apple used to be renowned for !! :)

god bless u man, i'm with ya

i know it sounds crazy and impossible  but maybe 1 day this will happen
we hope so ;)
I hope so too bro ..... but with such a huge army of Fanboys, who are determined to hold Apple back instead of pushing the company forward ..... it may take a long long long time !!

I would love to go Car shopping with this guy....
"What? The steering wheel isn't reinforced titanium!?! And are those tires STILL made of rubber!?!"
I'd love to go iPhone shopping with you dude ..... "there is no need for Apple to offer 3G or GPS, so what if almost every other manufacturer does" !! :p

Though this does strike a certain point, maybe all of these somewhat ludicrous expectations from Apple (blu-ray and aluminum mice) are based on there not being any great product on the horizon.
Not at all Maximus Fanboyus ..... it's actually ludicrous not to expect BluRay and a matching Mouse !!

Hallelujah !! I thought I was the only one who looked at Apple rationally and logically ..... and with the sense that everything can (and should!) be improved upon !! :)

The loyalty of the Fanboys is both a strength and a weakness for Apple ..... it means they will always buy whatever the company offers ..... but at the same time they always justify and make excuses for the company's flaws and faults, and do little to truly raise the expectations for the products ...... which means Apple will have little motivation to really break in to the mainstream ..... and is doomed to remain a small time player in the overall market .....
