I’d have to disagree. I think within the next year masks are going to pretty much go away and things are going to return to mostly normal.
You're forgetting the moronic anti-vaxxers.
Before things might return to what was normal in 2019, we need herd immunity through vaccinations (and enough doses etc.) People with allergies, serious diseases, etc. cannot take the current vaccines.
But there are things that are normal now (out here) that I hope might well stay as well. I don't need people I don't know well to try to hug me, want to kiss me etc. I don't like people who stand too close to me anyway. And I would not mind if people with a common cold would put on a damned mask like they do in Japan and some more countries.
And I was never a fan of large crowds.
There's for sure good things too to keep on doing even without this round of virus (there's always a next flu, ebola, ... mutation to be ready for).
Back to FaceID: I don't miss it on a mac to be honest. I would not want a thicker lid to put the hardware in case of a laptop, and separate monitors don't have the hardware needed anyway.
Unlock with Apple Watch is simple and easy enough for my needs and works just fine even on multiple macs.
