Will you take advantage of the deals today? Maybe buy a new camera, SD card, or what not today? If so share this and the deals. I am working and will not but it’s okay. I have what I need and do not need anything more at this time.

The important sales are the ones you're going to buy anyway and may as well save money. For example Creative Cloud is 20% off on B&H. If you're already paying Adobe, you may as well pay them 20% less!

Can you use the deal if you are already a subscriber or is this for new customers only?

I've been using it for years, so it seems to work fine even if not a subscriber. You'll get a code to redeem, which you can do on Adobe's site. Then your next billing date will just get pushed back a year.

Why did you start this thread? What difference does it make to you if someone else shops for photography-related or other items on Black Friday? If you had actually purchased something today or were planning to do so and started the thread, that would have made more sense.

My favorite camera store doesn’t do Black Friday sales-he just cuts deals everyday depending on his mood and how much he likes you.

I need to see if KEH is doing anything. My recent bokeh thread has me wanting a long time wish list lens-the Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC

EDIT-looks like KEH is doing 10% off, although that’s not super unusual to get a special like that from them. Do I want the $636 bargain grade one they have?

Suggestion for your stocking...

Once you complete the course you can drive some discussions instead of just starting ones.

I wanted to but then my wife yelled at me. I did however pick up a cheap Windows 11 laptop to be a new Linux box.

Not directly camera related, like a new lens, but a photography necessity. For years, done marginal, haphazard backup on no particular schedule. Several weeks ago decided to resolve that issue with a nas. After research, immediately ruled out wd my cloud, and considered a diy build, but since new to me too much of a learning curve. That left Qnap and Synology (and lesser, such as Buffalo, etc) that provided more of a turnkey environment. Ultimately settled on Synology due to it overcoming the RAID native shortcoming of limiting all drives to the smallest and not reading the excess of the others.

While decision was made a couple weeks ago, with Black Friday so close, held off. Ended up picking up a Synology ds920+ with a$110 discount. Nas designed hard drives (wd red plus, seagate ironwolf, or toshiba n300) was a different issue. Technically, I could get four 4tb hard drives cheaper than two 8TB, but decided on the two 8TB for future expansion in empty bays, vs trashing a 4tb with a replacement higher capacity drive - which traditional RAID (Qnap or diy build) would not recognize anyway as all drives would be limited to 4tb, the smallest size drive. All drives were significantly reduced. B&H had the wd red plus for $155, but out of stock taking orders for when restocked, while other stores were $205 or higher. Competing Seagate Ironwolf was reduced at several stores for $179 and ordered on Thanksgiving day from Best Buy. Next day, Best Buy had the WD matching B&H $155 and in stock - both local stores and online. Fastest return ever - cancelled the Seagate that hadn’t even shipped yet and ordered WD order AND cutting a week off delivery.

PC laptops can be cheap. Wish apple could cut their prices to be more reasonable. I used my stimulus check last year to buy a 2020 MBP and I don't plan to upgrade for a long time.

Agreed…and not limited to Apple, but all the “manufacture dictated price control, and official sale prices”. It really doesn’t matter where you buy it, or when. In a position to replace my 2013 MBP…and love the 14 and 16 inch just introduced…but no incentive to buy now or one vendor over another. Will I upgrade? Yes, but it can wait til Feb or so with no pricing risk. Spending now on other things with significant savings.

Yeah I see your point. The MAJOR drawbacks to the M1 laptops is the lack of a touch bar and the lack to boot into Windows. I plan to keep mine for a long time.

Im going to buy some thread today!
boring Blue gimpy green redundant red obvious orange yawny yellow and useless lavender
we need more threads!

Arggg… Best Buy just updated shipping with good news - delivering tomorrow rather than Wednesday. The bad news, UPS linked the shipment to standing instructions to pick up at a UPS store near me. It is usually about a 50/50 catch rate with both UPS and a similar with FedEx, and I will usually manually reroute. Generally, I prefer that delivery and swing by on way home from work than leaving on front door steps. I usually won’t buy from Newegg or Adorama because they prohibit re-routing, forcing home delivery. Currently, still using a walker until stitches are removed next Friday, was looking forward to home delivery. Now, wife will have to drive me to the UPS Store, go hobbling in as I have to show my ID to pick it up as she cannot pick it up since wasn’t addressed to her.

My M1 has a Touch Bar, abd the models with Touch Bar are still available

With that said, I hope to soon order a 16” and be done with the ridiculous Touch Bar that cases me more grief than benefit…

I'm sure I shared this before but I'm so proud of this short video I made years ago lol

I didn't mind the Touch Bar but I didn't use it much. I gifted my 13" M1 to my son who is moving out to his own place. And I have a 16" M1 pro on order. Probably over kill but I ordered it with 32gigs of memory. So I need to wait till mid December for delivery.

Not for long. New models produced lack a touch bar.

If you want it, buy while still available.

I suspect you are in the minority of those who like it. As I said, one of the benefits-to me-of the 16" will be the lack of it.
I’m personally glad to see it go. I really only used it for volume and brightness because I had to, but these functions work great with buttons :). I get what they were trying to do with it but it needed developers on board and they only had a few that really put effort in. And even then, I never felt incentivized (not enough benefit) to go through the cognitive dissonance to change how I did things to use it. I never felt it helped with my photographic workflow and as far as my developer-side, I was grumpy without my escape key before they rectified that.
