My post never indicated anything wrong with iOS 11. What I was saying, was that there are those on a tech forum who find every discrepancy and dissect everything wrong with iOS 11 for their own reasons, where the average consumer likely doesn’t have an issue or notice imperfections with iOS 11 as much as tech enthusiast would.
No, I get what you're saying. We're a tough crowd to please, but everyone all over this forum keeps talking about iOS 11 and its flaws and bugs. Well, idk if I am one of the lucky few or what, but I have yet to encounter any issues. Actually this applies to everything Apple made that I own - I've never had any kind of reliability or functionality issue with anything. The only example I can remember was with my very first iPhone (gen 1) when calls would drop constantly. Hence - I switched back to Blackberry. But once I came back to Apple with the iPhone 5 - it's been smooth sailing ever since (iPads, Macbooks, HomePod etc included)

One example, yesterday when viewing this website on my 6S the bar at the top with the signal bars, battery and time went buggy and overlaid the webpage, closing safari down and putting the phone to sleep then back on fixed it, but that’s just one of the many random issues I’ve had, I’ve also had the screen not rotate properly a few times and other issues.
If I click on the page numbers in this forum on a thread the keyboard pops up for no reason...

I have only experienced on going bugs like this on iOS 11.

But he worst is my iPad Pro which is slow and laggy and unresponsive and has bugs also. iOS 11 runs better on my 6S with less power and older tech then my iPad Pro...

Your 6S, not iOS 11, unless 11 struggles with 2GB RAM models.

A clean setup and stock set of apps.

Flawless but I did not participate in the first months, up until 11.3b actually. Now that was a mess and likely one issue.

Personally I think a new iOS every year has always been a mistake. I'd like to see 11.7 or something instead. (MAC OS X 10.2 on were all never ready until .3 or later.)

Yawn.... What does the notch have to do with the topic of this thread? Can we have ONE thread where the X is discussed without the notch hate creeping into it?

Anywho, I've not really had many issues with iOS 11.. Yes there are a few bugs but in my opinion it's nowhere even close to being as bad as some make it out to be.

I am all for Apple doing refinements and enhancements with iOS 12.
Sure. I do hope iOS 12 is a refinement. But considering iTunes support, I don’t know. By far iOS 11 is okish for me, although there are random bugs all over the place.

Depending on the features iOS 12 introduces and how well my X performs on it, I may just hold on to the device for another year. I could be persuaded to go to Android as well, but I'm sure I would ultimately come back to iOS after a period of time.

Thus, I voted "no" since I'd like to see a demo of iOS 12 at WWDC. Plus, do I really want to drop another $1,000 on the next gen X model? Unless Apple somehow lowers the price on the next gen X.

I mean no new features or designs, just under the hood fixes.

Would you go and drop $1000+ again on a slightly faster model with a camera that'll probably be behind Google again.

I have a 256gb X and unless iOS 12 is a big design change with new features I fail to see the point now.

And no they notch will not be smaller, it will look exactly the same but we'll get a gold model this time that was leaked last year.

How can you say that with such certainty? Do you have a connection with Tim Cook or Johnny I've and they assured you the notch will be staying the same?

Also when it comes to iPhone there is very little correlation with upgrading hardware based on the software. Most iPhone owners can upgrade to the new software while keeping their old phones, its not much of a factor when deciding to upgrade to the newest device.

I look at how Apple will force using iOS 12 if I get a new phone. Bad.

iOS 12.3+ may be fine.

Will the next ARM chip be 7nm and offer new AR features I’ll appreciate? Maybe.

The reality is, when somebody considers upgrading, it’s the hardware that will persuade them at first, but it’s software long run the make the user experience different. Rather iOS 12 offers that difference, is yet to be found out. But being that iPhones are generally becoming more expensive, consumers are being somewhat more conscious if they feel the need to upgrade regardless if the phone is financed or not.

I'll probably stick with my 8 Plus until it croaks or a microLED Plus is available (hopefully not too far in the future).

I look forward to micro LED, but I believe it’s at least three years out. And I think the Apple Watch will be the first Product to receive it.

I agree, the Watch will probably get it first. OLED is impressive in many ways, but it has quite a few downsides that I personally do not like. mLED, however, sounds like it'll have all the pros and none of the cons. Judgement reserved until release, of course.

Three years or so is quite a while, but I anticipated such a wait and so jumped on the 8 Plus as it's likely the last 'classic' flagship we'll see. The A11 should keep it going for many years!

Nope. If iOS 12 is still a piece of junk then I'm throwing in the towel. I've been saying this to myself mentally for the past few years but have still stuck with them, mainly out of hope.

2014: "Maybe this year they will fix everything!"

2015: "Surely this year they'll fix all their mess!"

2016... 2017.... etc.

And it's always the same outcome every year.

New iOS version: "This update is trash!"

.2 update: "Still isn't good enough!"

.2.5 update: "Ugh..."

.3 update: "Finally, my phone is starting to feel back to normal again!"

It always takes up until the third update for them to fix their s*** (even then issues with it remain) and I just can't be bothered doing that anymore, playing this endless waiting game for a phone to run like it should've on day one. It's a tedious, viscious cycle. I've given them enough chances and this year is going to be the last one from me. Then it's all eyes on Android I'm afraid to see what the Pixel 3 brings.

If 12 is as great as 11 I would not hesitate. 11 is the fastest smoothest iOS I’ve ever used. These are the same complaints that I hear for every iOS but never see.

For me unless there is a big change in the hardware I will stick to my SE and 8. I had a 7 then sold it and got an 8. I saw no real discernible difference between the two for what I use a phone for so I will keep what I have until it gets too slow or laggy. Some like the new phone every year though and I think that is cool if the person enjoys it. I say to each their own.

I think Promotion will be more orientated for the iPad, especially when viewing a larger display for the 10.5 and 12.9, its nice to have for smoother navigation.

yeah it's nice, and it's noticeable, on the ipad pros and the Razer phone...makes everything smooth....I figure if the next iphone X is a plus then we're talking almost 6.5" now, so Promotion would be nice to have. But most likely we won't see it this year.

I think I would likely upgrade for the bigger screen size alone. Well I would upgrade as i'm on the EE annual upgrade so would do so anyway. I would be happy for IOS 12 to even be just a performance and bug free OS and no new features personally.

I suppose one way to avoid this would be to upgrade every year but until the iOS X.3 version is released.

Did you use iOS before iOS 7? Because iOS 11 in comparison is a laggy mess.

That would be wise but then the next iPhone will be around the corner 6 months later. I’m a sucker for pre ordering while they’re new and hot. I guess I should’ve learned my lesson by now.

Yes I used IOS from the beginning - 10 years ago. I have no lags on my phone. I suspect that is is more the apps people run than the IOS that cause some phones to be lagging and have bad battery life.
