Lets say that on Thursday, Apple come out with a preview that doesn't have support for background processes for third-party applications (at least two apps running at the same time) and doesn't come out with any improvements to the Lock Screen or notification management system - will you leave the iPhone for another platform?

Because if they dont have that here, its likely we wont be seeing it for at least another year and a half...

I sure hope they do...
 
I voted yes, but I do really like my iPhone and the experience. The new iPhone will need to be an "A+" as Jobs has said for me to remain an AT&T customer.

I live in a rural area and get EDGE at home (3G at work). Since VZW purchased Alltel, they now have 3G throughout my entire commute and at my home...makes it very tempting to switch.
 
No because at the end of the day the iPhone does what I need it to do. At best I will upgrade as I skipped the 3GS version and I've been eligible for an upgrade since September 2009.

I love my iPhone. My wife loves hers as well, but now that there are unlocked smartphones readily available on the market, I might switch when my 3gs dies. It's so annoying to always worry about breaking your phone with every update, lose your warranty from the get go, etc.

Don't get me wrong...if apple sold unlocked phones I'd be all over a replacement 3gs or whatever the 4g will be.
 
I will not. I have just spent the last week with an AT&T Nexus One. This is one of the top competitors to the iPhone and believe me they still have a very long way to go if they want to catch up to Apple. I do like certain aspects of the Android OS but overall the experience is inconsistent from app to app and there are many bugs that hinder the experience. Also while I am sure that the apps will improve a lot in the coming years most of the current ones just don't have the polished feel of even the crappiest apps on the app store. You just cannot beat the user experience that one has on the iPhone.
 
iphone changed my life. Practically it changed the way i live. I can't think of a life without it :)

Let's say Apple went bankrupt today and there will be no support or upgrade whatsoever for the iphone ever again. Apple does not exist anymore. I would still use it as long as it goes. Say, 10 years. Only phone i will use from now on will only be iphone(s)(let's say i lived to see 2070's, i will still be using iPhone if Apple exists by then):D

Besides the jokes, seriously i can not use any other phone. Thank you Apple.

I can't say the same thing for iPad though, yet.:eek: Don't buy a first generation Apple product, you'll see iPad's next generation will rule.
 
All depends I suppose, multi-tasking isnt something groundbreaking! I think a couple of new features would be nice, as I have said before, like battery power improvement, redesign (hardware and software). It all depends on what is to come. I would also prefer reading reviews (both positive and negative) after it's released. I won't just jump and say yes or no even after the event on Thursday
 
Well, I am locked in until a year from June, so my 3GS will have to do for the near term. However, I really like my iPhone and see no reason whatsoever to switch. The iPhone has frustrating limitations (for me, lack of multi-tasking is not one of them), but on the whole I enjoy my iPhone so much I wouldn't want to give it up.

I've ordered a Nexus One and I'm considering switching. While the odds are high that the thursday event will only show off the OS and not a new iPhone, I'm on the fence.

Part me likes what the iPhone is, but I do think apple is happy to keep things the status quo (just look at the iPad for evidence). I believe other makers, like android are extending both the software and hardware beyond apple's closed rigid approach.

That said, apple makes a really great product which is why I'm waffling :)

I think I will just wait till Thursday see what comes out! :rolleyes: they might even talk about a cool feature we haven't even thought about! Also this is about 4.0 not the new Iphone so we still might not know stuff for a few months! ;)

I.e. it makes phone calls - and the procedure is nice and simple. The other stuff it does is just fluff, and the novelty soon wears off. I'm sure some people use it to surf the web, and they probably enjoy brushing their teeth wearing boxing gloves. But the simple interface for making calls is superb. I couldn't go back to push buttons.
 
Not a chance... I could never go back to a built in keyboard, and aside from maybe a Microsoft phone, every other touch screen is straight garbage compared to the iPhone.
 
I have a jailbroken iphone so pretty much anything apple shows me software wise probably won't impress me. I'm waiting to see what type of hardware upgrades come with the next iphone.

Screen, speakers, camera, casing, etc..

If none of these impress me, I'm going to look into the HTC EVO from Sprint.
 
I voted "No". Since coming from 8 years of WinMo devices, the iPhone "ecosystem" has me locked in (which is not necessarily a bad thing). I have quite an investment in the ecosystem (from apps, cases, iHome clock, Lexus iPod integration kit, etc). I will be very disappointed if Multitasking and at least some changes in UI (giving more information) are not included but not enough for me to forgo the investment I have made in the 1 1/2 of being an iPhone user. There's always J/B (again) but I'll re-cross that bridge when I come to it.
 
No not at all, my iPhone rocks it does all and more than I require. I didn't upgrade to 3gs and am still happy with my 3G so when the new phone is announced I will be very excited to see what new goodies will be included and more than likely will upgrade.

Long live the iPhone!

I dont think its possible on this website for a perfectly polite and reasonable thread to go without at least one annoying, rude and completely pointless post like this.

This isn't a Fan forum - we can objectively discuss things without being steve lovers.
