I might switch, but not because of lack of multitasking; would be nice but won't change be xp a ton. Network/networking features are more important to me at this point. I like the EVOs WiMAX (coverage is good in my area) and that you can use it as a hub. Aside form those net features I also like its inclusion of hdmi.

4G network: Won't happen in upcoming iPhone but maybe hsdpa can get similar performance in the short term (I'm on a 3g so I don't know what 3gs is like).
iPhone as a hub: Doubt it'll happen without tethering charges
HDMI: Maybe as an adaptor but then you'd need some sort of hub for powering the phone.

Other things I'd like:
Over the air syncing and updates: Won't happen
Merge iTunes store and iPod (Hate having to bounce back and forth): Won't happen.
Better battery life
Install apps in the background (i.e. don't close app store when installing an app)
Option to turn off password request if app/song is less than $4.99

My iPhone is crap

I have NO LOYALTY to the iPhone.
When it stops making me $$$, it's history.
I would leave iPhone in a heartbeat for a mobile device that listens to my every voice command.

I believe other operating systems are finding their way and are on the right path, but Apple is so far refined that I wouldn't be able to stand any less. Besides if I want all the fancy customization stuff I'll just jailbreak.

I am sticking with the iPhone. I love my 3GS and loved my 3G before that. I am hoping Apple has listened to the consumer and made the next generation something WORTHY of a purchase. If not, I will not buy it. I need something more substantial than a few minor improvements.

Better screen (HD 720p)- NO MORE YELLOW, sms tone customization, maybe some multi tasking, further OS customization, mass storage device, mobile hot spot option?

The iPhone is where it's at. Every time I see a commercial for something, they say they have an app for the iPhone. It's so nice having everything I need at my fingertips in a sleek, easy to use package. It's "magical" :p - Seriously though, I love it.

The ONLY way I would switch away from the iPhone is if something else came along and blew it out of the water and/or Apple is not refreshing the product with technology that is up to date. So far, nothing has come along that makes me go WOW. Not even Android.

I'm changing my maybe "unvote" to a No vote.

After playing with a Nexus one for a couple of days. I've come to the realization that apple makes a superior product. Even if that product doesn't have multitasking.

I did my research before I bought my iPhone. While I think it would be kind of lame to not address at least *some* of the key complaints, I'm happy with my iPhone as is.

I'm currently using a 3G and expect that I'll stick to my plan of upgrading only to the even numbered generations (in sync with my AT&T contract)

The 3GS is worth the upgrade to me at this point, so I'm sure the new iPhone (if it's announced tomorrow or not) will still look good to me.

Not a chance... I could never go back to a built in keyboard, and aside from maybe a Microsoft phone, every other touch screen is straight garbage compared to the iPhone.

Agreed ! Funny thing is, when I first heard about the iPhone, I thought it was so stupid not to include an actual keyboard. I had a Sprint Palm Treo 700, and I thought that was the ultimate. The more I investigated the iPhone, the more I fell in love with it. Now, I type so much faster on my iPhone than I ever did with the physical keys of the Palm Treo. The Touch screen is so great on the iPhone, I can't imagine ever going to another phone's touch screen, the others I've tried, like Verizon's Droid (which I hated) and Verizon's Eris (way cheaper than the Droid, but IMO, way better an experience), but none of their touch screens can come close to the iPhone.
