12.0 public beta 9 is fine and appears close to fc/rc Status.

With new Plus it might still need an update or two.

I will update all of the family iPhones to iOS 12 on the first day, yes, whether they are running beta now or not.

Tested every single iOS 12 beta and always reverted back to 11.4.1.
Will definitely upgrade on day 1 as I’m anxiously waiting for Google Maps in CarPlay. The rest of iOS 12 is nice to have. Nothing spectacular.

Do people not remember the fiasco that was last year's updates? Multiple critical flaws for months and months after release, not really reaching any kind of steady state until 11.3. Part of me really wants to play around with the new shiny features, but another part of me still feels burned and that Apple needs to re-earn my trust.

Of course, because i think iOS 12 will stable and optimized iOS 11 version...

Wrong forum. Should be posted on the iOS 11 forum. Almost all on this forum are already on iOS 12 beta.

Agree with the last part. iOS 12 beta is good, so probably almost nobody is visiting anymore the iOS 11 section, because they are using the beta. Maybe this is why the thread starter decided to post here.

You can always go back to 11.4.1 as long as it’s signed by Apple of course.
Takes 20-30 minutes. In case you got tons of iCloud photos + Apple Music, start the download before you go to bed.
Just make sure you have an encrypted iTunes backup of 11.4.1. No big deal ...

That’s exactly the point of iOS 12. They’re fixing their reputation of releasing buggy software by releasing a major X.0 update mostly focused on stability.

Earning people’s trust back begins here.

I said they have to EARN my trust again. The way I see it, it's all just words right now. They have been having buggy releases for the last three years at least. That points to an institutional problem where software quality was devalued over an extended period of time. I really find it hard to believe that they can turn everything around in just one year. In fact, as a software developer myself, I know exactly how years of neglecting quality can snowball into a situation that is very difficult, time consuming, and costly to correct. Ever hear of technical debt? I'll believe they've turned things around when after a month or two I don't hear of any critical bugs.

if it comes out the week of 17th-21st then i will miss out on the first day. i will be on vacation.
will just wait for 12.0.1 to upgrade.

Normally I would wait until like a .2 or .3 release, but since Apple made a big deal about performance improvements I took a leap of faith and installed the beta and am so impressed that I still use it.

I feel the exact way iOS 11 severely cheapened the experience of my iPad Pro compared to iOS 10 and I remember multiple apps I relied on were broken for a period of time. I will be waiting atleast a week to make sure no show stopping bugs are found.

I'm doing what I do every year, and pull the (OTA) trigger as soon as the update goes live. Hasn't failed me yet, and in case something happens there's always the possibility to downgrade back to iOS 11 until they get stuff sorted out. At least I think there is, never had to try and find out. No reason to change what works (for me) come September.

I’m on public beta. Is it a good idea to get off beta program and go with the final release of iOS 12,or stay on? I think if I go off beta, I have to redownload iOS 12, instead of just turning on a switch.

It depends on if you want new betas of the next version (12.0.x) or not. And there is no 'switch' to turn on :) You should get the last version automatically and if you keep the beta profile installed you will be offered the next beta available.
