Windows 7 is worse than Vista!!

I'm hating windows 7 (i have the full and final release through MSDN)

If you boot into windows with a DVD movie in your drive, explorer crashes. That never happened in Vista.

Win7 will frequently not connect to the internet, needing a restart.

UAC is even more obtrusive and took me just 2 hours of use to completely disable it after trying all the various settings.

Google chrome doesn't work with it without some hack and THERE IS NO SOLITAIRE OR MINESWEEPER

Will be going back to vista soon i expect.

I have had none of the problems that you are having with Windows 7 although I haven't used Google Chrome. Furthermore, you can install the games (I assume you are using Windows 7 Professional) as you would install any optional Windows component. They just aren't installed by default. UAC is unobtrusive, definitely less so than Vista.

I'm well aware of how to disable UAC, my point is that after 2 hours of using Win7, it became so annoying that i had to turn it off. Thanks for missing the point anyway.

I've also found an issue where the computer become incredible laggy and unusable (the mouse cursor wont even move across the screen fluently), ctrl+alt+del doesn't work and i have to turn the computer off at the wall to shut it down and restart. This has happened 4 times in a week.

Can't reproduce that here, sorry. Works with no problems at all for me.

Is bonjour installed? There's a bug between that and Windows 7 I think that stops Windows 7's network location service from working. Not sure if it's an issue with windows or with bonjour but its there.

You're either trolling with this point, doing something very unusual or were drunk during those two hours. UAC in Windows 7 is much less intrusive by default than in Vista, and it isn't exactly difficult to turn it off either: Control Panel --> System and Security --> Action Center--> Change User Account Control Settings might be a little long winded but it's hardly a mensa entry exam.

Mind you, I've got three Windows 7 installs going here, full RTM version rather than beta, and both seem to have both games present. Perhaps I'm just lucky?

Assuming you're serious, I think you've either upgraded a "sick" Vista install (windows never has handled upgrades well, especially if the OS you're starting from isn't working perfectly well) or you're doing something very unusual.

No mouse lag here. Or problems with DVDs. I only see UAC when I'm doing something you'd expect to trigger an authentication request just as you would in OSX (e.g. actually changing the way the system works) and that's acceptable to me. Only problem I've noticed is the network one, and that's cured for me by disabling bonjour.

I think any problems you're seeing are either bootcamp / driver specific issues rather than Windows ones, or as I said before, if your install is an upgrade from Vista then you have the bit rot you often get when upgrading Windows from one version to another.

1) What are you doing carrying a laptop around with a DVD in it anyways?

2) Never had wifi/lan connection problems before, matter of fact Win7 makes networking easier by ten folds

3) Win7's UAC is an annoying puppy who follows you around compared to WinV's stalker with a knife UAC

4) I'm running Chrome as my primary browser. No hacks needed. Matter of fact, I've been running Chrome on Win7 since it got leaked.

5) There's like 3 types of different solitaire here.... and what the hell? You have and half decent computer and that's what you want to play? Go pick up a Blizzard game or something.

After having used the Windows 7 RTM, still installed on my Dell XT, i must say, i'm not really impressed. I'll take Snow Leopard any time. It still lacks basic features, it's new "easy" sharing feature, to share on a home network doesn't work well with macs. Ye, i'm rather unimpressed. Also had lots of WiFi probs, it'll randomly disconnect me and then i have to go and reconnect, with lots of errors on the way, and no way to fix it. I just had to wait 10 minutes, and then it did work.

Bonjour is probably installed by default with bootcamp/itunes/safari/quicktime

Do i need it - what is it really? I'm happy to try disabling it but internet has been ok for a couple of days.

I can't complain about Windows 7 at all. I've been using it full time at work for quite a while now and I think it's BY FAR the best Windows release since NT 4: It's robust, fast and user friendly enough and "just works".

The only thing that I miss in Windows 7 is something like Quick Look - which is (Snow) Leopard's (only) killer feature. Other than that, Windows 7 is eating (Snow) Leopard's lunch.

Did you perform an upgrade install or a clean install?

Bonjour should not be a problem with networking as I have iTunes installed on Windows 7 without those problems. Personally I have not experienced any of the problems you have had. I have found it to be faster and smoother than XP. I have also been able to run most of my Windows applications (daemon tools and an old copy of Motorola phone tools with old drivers did not like the 64bit OS) and every old and new game I have tried.

As for internet problems. The only problem I have had online is Websites insisting that Windows 7 is not a valid OS. Though that is the IT guys fault to not allow the site to run on any computer capable of displaying it.

I would say either you have a bad install or need updated drivers. Personally I would format the drive and perform a clean install.

I'm loving 7 so far (RTM, haven't tried RCs). I completely hated vista and have been running XP x64 up until now, and noticed great improvements in speed and reliability in 7 as well as they worked out a handful of small bugs here and there.

I'm not too concerned with lack of solitaire or minesweeper, I mean seriously.

UAC takes 5 seconds to disable (Start Menu > type UAC and disable, then reboot).

The only issue I have is one of my laptops' Ethernet adapter doesn't always wake up from standby requiring a reboot, but that's likely a manufacturer driver problem.

I find Vista and 7 to be more or less the same. Windows 7 suffers from the same degrade in performance when Windows Search is activated as in Vista for me. With that disabled, both windows 7 and windows vista runs extremely well.

I have Vista Boot Camp in a virtual machine and it runs smooth even with Aero.
