My impression of having used the Atom is that it honestly would do the job of a
lot of home computers and particularly a large swath of the corporate desktop (particularly the
many people who use MS Office, a web browser, and hardly anything else)
quite well, just as it is (without even waiting for an improved dual core version).
Systems like the Eee Box have other advantages for this kind of use -- they're tiny, one needn't pay for things like optical drives that many corporate users don't use, etc. And they consume a tiny amount of power compared to the desktops that are typically on those desks.
I'm curious to see how Win7 and the Atom line get along -- I haven't tried it.
