I am pretty excited about the iPhone 6 in September and I'm going to get it. As far as legitimate alternatives goes, I think Windows Phones might be the best out there. What do you guys think? Those are pretty much the only phones I've seriously studied apart from iPhones.

Overall I prefer the apple experience better, however the windows phones are very good. Each has its own advantages. Apple does not allow for the use of sd cards, where as some windows phones do. The Apple appstore still has more apps but windows is gaining more and more each day. WIndows 8.1 is a good operating system but I still like ios better. There are some really good prices on the windows phones right now.

Windows Phone is awesome. The app situation if you are Google entrenched is concerning.

I'm still researching, but no joke, if iOS8's big deal is health book, I'm not getting an iPhone 6, and will be using those funds for a Windows Phone in Q4.

I'm liking the new DNA featured in the Lumia Icon/930 as well.

Windows phone has come a long way. I'm running the 8.1 developer preview and it's pretty nice. My primary phone is an LG G2, but when it's time to upgrade I'm going give Windows phone a serious look.

My Nokia Lumia Icon is rocking with a 8.1 and I'm very happy with the phone. The metro interface is really great. I was a doubting thomas but I gave the phone a chance and I'm glad I did.

I love the email app (this is the one major app I need working well) and the app store seems to have what I need (though I admit my needs are probably a bit more humble then others).

Solid phone, solid design, great OS - I recommend it highly

Come to the dark side - we have cookies :p

I want to make the jump so bad to the WP side from my Note 3 but the lack of a flagship device for ATT outside of the older phones has me hesitating still.

I need an Icon'esque phone announced for ATT in Q4 to and I will be all in!

What about the Lumia 1520? It's basically an Icon with a six inch screen.

Trying to downsize a tad as I have the Note 3 currently and its a little too big for my overall phone going forward and what I need.

With that said if I could get the 1520 instead of the Icon I would :D

I think AT&T is supposed to get a version of the Icon in the future. Maybe the Lumia 930?

How would that play into VZW having an exclusive then? Wouldn't they be upset that their exclusive is not really an exclusive?

It could be similar to the 920 and 928 being nearly identical phones on different carriers.

I can't remember where I read it, but I thought the 930 was supposed to have on screen buttons. I might be confused with a different phone though.

A timed exclusive makes sense, something I had not considered.

I really enjoy WP but I think it needs a couple more years. I've used a Lumia 920, 1020, and 1520. All awesome phones. I just switched back to iPhone about a week ago because I need iOS for some compatibility that I wasn't getting with WP8. But it's a great OS, I prefer it leaps and bounds over Android, especially now that 8.1 has made up for some of my main gripes.

Lumias offer fantastic hardware, hand down the best cameras available on phones, and a truly unique mobile experience. The crutch is that MS and Google aren't playing nice right now.

I have a 1520. Solid phone, great camera, great hardware. Software is a letdown. I think if you are interested in WP you should already know about the sad software support. Thing is, literally every developer is like that - including Microsoft itself. OneNote, for example, got updated with long-awaited features on iOS and Android. Windows Phone? Nope.
