There are many threads and instructions on how to do it on a Mac, it is super easy to do in a Mac, just run the application, and the application would actually guide you how to do it for you

Got it working.

For anyone else struggling with 1600 error message from iTunes,
you can get past that with winpwn 2.5 and iPhone1,2_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw.

Run winpwn until it crashes with a white screen.
Run iTunes - it sees this as a jailbroken iPhone in DFU mode, and will restore it.

I have been getting this for hours.. updated from 2.2.1 to 3.0 on a 2g iphone on windows and it's showing me the emergency screen , can't even get it to downgrade or do anything for that matter.. any advice please?

the win 2.5 instructions to get to dfu with the white screen worked great. Wish I saw this earlier would of saved me 4 hours of problems.
