I've not had any of them either. The Molotov is just for fun. The nitro was recommended by a friend after I turned him onto Rochefort 10. He feels it has a rich smooth almost buttery finish like the Rochefort. And the Straffe was a random choice off the shelf.

Well, if you really enjoy the Rochefort 10 (and it one of my all time favourite beers), you will most certainly like the Straffe Hendrik (quad) which is an excellent beer.

Not sure if anyone else is following the proceedings of the G7 Summit in Krün, Bavaria, southern Germany, with interest.

Before heading to the actual summit venue (Schloss Elmau), President Obama and Chancellor Merkel breakfasted together on pretzels, Weisswurst, (a local delicacy) and a Weissbier brewed specially for the summit, said to have been flavoured with 'banana and clove'.

As someone who is rather partial to Weissbier, I'll readily admit to some small curiosity as to what this must actually taste like.

That sounds like it could be good and better than jalapeno flavored. James Page Brewery, as I recall used to offer one. :)

I had the Straffe Hendik last night after I returned from my daughter's graduation ceremony. I think I might like it more than the Rochefort and it's slightly cheaper too. Definitely a buy again beer.

Cannot offer an informed opinion on the 'Molotov Cocktail' or the 'Milk Stout Nitro', as I had never heard of either of them until I read your post.

However, I can tell you that the Straffe Hendrik quadruple is an outstanding beer. Several of them have found a welcome spot in my well stocked cellar….

Oh, and enjoy the Trappist Rochefort beers; they are outstanding.

Between the two reviews of the Straffe Hendrik, I think I am going on a hunt!!!!! Given we like the same tastes in beer, this sounds like a must try.

Delighted you liked it. I find it is always wonderful to come across a new and unknown beer that you discover you really like and wish to consume again. Anyway, it is an excellent beer. Cheers, to your health.

I think you'll enjoy it if you like the Rochefort Trappist 10 and the St Bernardus 12 (both of which I love); anyway, all I can do is to reiterate my opinion which is that Straffe Hendrik is an excellent beer.

I don't think love is a strong enough word for those two beers! HAHA.... Two of my favorites. Period. So yup I am on a little hunt!!

Just so everybody is on the same page you all know that there are two different Strafe Hendrik's a 9 & 11.

I am going to assume the comments on here are regarding the 11 (Quad). However, now that I know there are two, if I can find any of them, I will pick them both up!!!

On another note, I really dig the Brew Dog IPA's. If you like stouts, try there "Tokyo" stout. A little high on the ABV, but man is it good!!! IMHO of course.

Yes, you assumed quite correctly.

The version of Straffe Hendrik that I am rather partial to is indeed the quad. I have neither seen nor tasted the other, though I don't doubt its excellence…..

Now, this is something I had not known, but am delighted to learn.

As always, my grateful thanks for enlightening us.

Isn't this what you call a "Bananenweizen"?

Perhaps, but I must confess that I had never, ever, even heard of the possibility of such a drink before reading the news report.

Never mind. Mr Google, s always proved to be of some assistance, and some others - my good friend mobilehaathi for example, seem to have even sampled and sipped this nectar.

I look forward to trying to lay hands on a bottle, at some stage

i suspect a more conventional variant which considering the circumstances is more likely(politicians at a public breakfast/pre-lunch event).... now everybody prepare for some heresy:
.
.
.
alcohol-free Weißbier

The alcohol "free" (well.. strongly reduced is more correct.i think 0,1-0,5% is left) Weißbier variants usually are even more fruitier/banana tasting than the regular ones, so i would guess the politicians had one of those.

A friend of mine uses it them for the workplace fridge for himself, for those after work events when you have to work the next day and have to get actually something done. Hard to still call them beer but very refreshing during the summer.

It is very similar to the Rochefort 10, as Skepticalscribe said. Have you found the Rochefort? If not I really do hope you can find them both.

I'm having a Rochefort with brisket with two alarm bark (my first brisket) and it's excellent together. Or alone. Either way. :)

Not sure that Rochefort for breakfast (notwithstanding what happened in Bavaria this sat week-end) is quite what I am cable of, but - I will readily admit to a fondness for Rochefort at almost any other time.

Rochefort yes!!! One of my favorite beers!!!!!!

And, yes, mine too, as you may have gathered from my posts on the subject.

Just for the record I really like the 9 better, it's a smoother taste, it's wonderful with meals in the winter time.

I posted this in Private Talks, but also want to share with the Community. Having a unique unfiltered wheat beer called 'Sweet Heat', its uniqueness is the Scotch Bonnet peppers from Jamaica and Apricots used in it. This is a spicy beer probably not for everyone. It is brewed by Burnside Brewery in Portland, Oregon.

Spicy, yes, but is it smooth, and sweet and luscious? How does the apricot flavour manifest itself? Would you recommend it as 'something interesting', or something so good - but different - that you must try?

The apricot manifests the sweet taste followed quickly by the warming taste of the peppers. Of course, I like that type of taste, (north Thai and Indian food are my 'Go to spicy food') Something interesting is how I would categorize this beer, I like having them about once a month.

I don't have a picture of it, but I was able to get my hands on one of the Game Of Thrones beers:

Game Of Thrones: Valar Morghulis - Brewery Ommegang

Going to hold on to this one and place it in my sudo beer cellar!

A beer you keep, (and admire from a discreet distance) instead of drinking it?

However, I must admit to some curiosity - where on earth did you get this, and who (or what) brews it?

For now, about the only beer I would contemplate brooding over while I stare at it would be the legendarily rare and wonderfully sublime - and yes, obscenely, ludicrously, insanely - expensive Trappist beer that goes by the name of Westvleteren.

After all of the beers that have been tried and show-cased recently, it was time to mention a wine.

Tonight, I felt like a nice white wine, something crisp, and slightly acidic. I settled on a white wine from the far north of Italy, from Südtirol (the Alto Adige).

This is a Gewürtztraminer - a grape I quite like a lot as it tempers sweetness with a nice, balancing acidity and is excellent both for drinking and as an accompaniment with food, especially salami and pork dishes - and the wine is called Linticlarus and came highly recommended to me.
