Yup!!! Which means I should start seeing it around late April early May. Fingers crossed! This is like one of the few beers on my bucket list to try! This, Dragon Milk, and Dark Lord...........

Oh, Dragon Milk...there was a Whole Foods in MI I used to pop into on occasion. They had it on tap and would let you wander the store to do shopping with your glass.

I was able to pick up some more of Founders Breakfast Stout.... here is hoping I can find some of their KBS this time around now that they are distributing in Southern Cal!!!!

So not to be a Debbie Downer - or a heretic - but relative to the price (and difficulty in locating), I find the "regular" Founder's Breakfast Stout is just as good as the KBS.

Actually, I quite like them both, but find that I prefer the 'heft' and depth of flavour of the KBS. But then, I am more than partial to Belgian quads, and to rich porters.

They're certainly both pretty terrific, I think with the KBS it was a case of too much build up, there's no way it could've lived up to my expectations (partially elevated due to the rarity).

Put it this way, offer me either, everything else equal, sure I'll take a KBS, require me to drive 25 miles and spend 3X the cost of the BK? I'll take the latter :D

Well, I'm in Europe, and both are equally unusual and most enjoyable; thus, when possible, I'll take the KBS.

I completely understand. This is one of those beers I have been really wanting to try and try for some time now. Now that I can "hopefully" get my hands on some.

The Breakfast Stout is one of my favorite beers. I was able to get my hands on three four packs this year and loved every single sip that I was able to get from them.

It's very good, if you score some, please enjoying it :) The upside for me of the regular BK being so fantastic, is I can score that year round (I think[?]).

Founders can do no wrong in my experience, everything they produce is pretty spectacular.

I didn't post, but I recently picked up an IPA sampler from Sierra Nevada and wow it was terrific:

I don't know whether you have ever had a (Belgian) Trappist Rochefort 10, (or a St Bernardus Abt 12), but the Belgian quad style of beer - a rich and luscious porter - is pretty close to what the KBS offers.

Why yes I have, in fact we have both commented to each other them! Those two are incredible beers and I always have one or two on hand. St. Bernardus Abt 12 is in my top 5 beers. Absolutely love it. That makes me want to try the KBS that much more now!

I have had the Torpedo and Five Hop. They are really good IPA's. I have not heard of the other two! Very nice....

So far everything I have had from Founders, while limited has been outstanding!

Have you tried Fonder's 'Old Curmudgeon', and/or Founder's 'Backwoods Bastard'? Both are excellent if you like the powerful ale style.

A nice Belgian beer, one I have not had prior to this evening.

It is a Belgian triple, and is called St Feuillien; colour wise, it is a lovely clear pale gold, and in terms of taste it is crispy, slightly sweet (sort of like shortbread), fruity, and very nicely balanced and elegant on the palate.

I haven't had that one either, must keep an eye out.

St Feuillien is offered by importers and stores here. I've seen it but never mustered the courage to try it. I'm picky with craft beers these days. I like Flanders red ales quite a lot though. Very refreshing on a warm day.

Apparently, St Feuillien does a range of beers, and the one I sampled was the triple.

Very nice, but precisely because it was a triple, not a quad, the strength of the beer did not come through when sipping; in other words, this is a deceptively strong beer.

Interesting, I have not seen it or if I have, I did not pay attention to it. Adding this to my very long list of beers to try!

Out of curiosity, anybody here also use the app "untappd"? I just started using it and love it. Especially for tracking all of the beers I drink etc. My user name is the same as this one.

No apps at all.

One further note: That triple is quite lovely, but is also quite carbonated - be very careful when opening it.

2013 Seven Hills Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Paired well with medium rare steak and watercress salad with toasted hazelnuts and strawberries from the garden. Delicious. Like most CabSau's grown in a cool climate, it was on the watery side but very easy to drink. Some smoke, oak and brightness made it rather appealing. Not a huge fan of CabSau's but this was an exception. You can't go wrong with Washington state wines.

What do you not like about Cabernet Sauvignon?

At a more - shall we say - robust level, there are some excellent wines made form the grape, although some of the best that I have tasted have been very good blends of Cabernet Sauvignon with a grape that is sharp and tannic (such as the Saperavi grape from Georgia).
