Havent had those did try Fresh Squeezed for the first time. OMG those beers are delicious. Grapefruit tangy orange goodness and even though they are supposed to be light they pack a good buzz

They have one of my favorite stouts, Obsidian Stout. Outstanding beer!

I have found the white whale, captured a unicorn ...

*Just kidding about the hate, more like an intense loathing... :D:D:)

Ahem.

Then, you may harbour feelings of - er, intense emotion - towards me, as well.

For, a crate of this very beer has taken up residence in my (admittedly quite well stocked) cellar.

LOL..... yeah, you are now on the loathing list too! Dang it. How did you get a crate full!!!!!? That is outstanding!

As they say,......I know some people (in the trade) who can lay hands on such stuff. I am not sure if I have a full crate - perhaps 12 bottles, maybe 16, along with a few (very few) remaining from last year.

So, I've made the loathing list? My day is made, and my cup of joy runneth over.

Actually, I was advised to keep some bottles until next year, and test and taste how well they mature if they are 'laid down', and allowed to age permitting the full complex flavours to emerge.

Holy smokes! 16 bottles! It is good to know people.

I have a few bottles right now that I have been aging for the past six months. Both stouts and are almost ready. Well as ready as I will let them. I am really wanting to taste them.

I think you have, but I can't remember have you tried the Breakfast Stout by Founders?

Yes, I have. And I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Actually, I have tried quite a few of the Founder's beers, beverages and delightful products, and find them excellent. It may be of some interest to learn that it was this very forum that acquainted me with Founder's.

Anyway, I tend to get phone calls, or texts, stating that - perhaps - two crates of KBS have become available. This will prompt the question (from me) asking 'how many am I allowed'? and an answer, which could range from between twelve to twenty - perhaps one crate of the two might have already been taken in its entirety.

Thus, a number such as 16 might be arrived at, as it is greedy to want to grab everything, after all.

I can totally see this transaction going down in the back alley behind a liquor store, white van, shady guy, and an exchange of cash and crates of beers!

That is awesome, I wish my liquor store guy was like this. I have gone to our local Total Wine and asked about doing ordering etc, but they don't do that either. GRRRRR.:mad:

No back alleys.

And, usually credit card, - or debit card - not cash...

This is an upmarket wine and beer store (and historic delicatessen) - the business is a little over a century old.

My friend is the young, enthusiastic manager of the drinks section, and fairly bubbles with enthusiasm 'you must try this!' - 'what did you think of that?' asking for feedback, and sometimes letting me know in advance if something interesting comes in.

Re the KBS, I was dragged to the beer section one day last year, and instructed to buy one and try one. Needless to say, I returned at speed the following day, in a state of rapture. ("Wow").

If anything that he thinks is 'interesting' turns up while I am away, he will put a few aside for me.

And he delivers to my door........

And gives me a generous discount.......

Wait and he delivers the beer! HOLY SMOKES! That is truly very cool and I would love to have something like this to have. Right now, the closest thing I get is Tavour.com. Which is good, but nothing like what you are talking about.

Yes, he delivers the beer, and whatever wine I have ordered.

Sometimes, he will add an attractive beer or wine glass that came his way to a delivery - he gave me a gift of a really good quality Riedel Montrachet glass recently.

(Another young man in a specialist wine shop does the same, discount, delivery, suggestions, recommendations.....letting me know when interesting stuff might make an appearance).

The closet I can get to alcohol delivery is a service called Instacart. When I was a very young boy, alcohol delivery by a small store was still the norm. That wasn't a very long time ago. It's fallen out of favor here in the US, as it's not something I've seen mentioned in many years. And it's not exactly like I'm an ancient artifact.

Heh, pretty much anything relating to alcohol is a bit borked in the US...

Other states, yes. Very easy to find it in California, many specialty stores, etc. Imagine my surprise many years ago when I was stopping through several east coast cities for a 24-48 hr layover and wanting something special to share with a friend. You would think you stepped into a time-warp and traveled back to prohibition.

My best alcohol memory (God that sounds pathetic) was tequila tasting at a classic distillery in Mexico many, many years ago. Their products were well known and quite expensive. I was down in Mexico with several good friends exploring the country, the culture and deep sea fishing. Of that region we visited, the people are very down to earth, warm and bubbly, and make some of the most incredible food that could pass your lips. Nothing you can get here, even from someone's abuelita. There are special tequila snifters and it's quite remarkable how they seem to change your ability to pick out flavors your tongue picks up. It's a memory I shall never forget.

Picked up two reliables this afternoon: Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (always reminds me why it's one of the most regarded IPAs on the planet), and a sweet favorite of mine, Left Hand Milk Stout.

FWIW, also scored Aviator gin, Bulleit bourbon, two cases of Fever Tree ginger beer (addicted to it ... best ginger beer by a long shot). Love bourbon and ginger beer, a little muddle mint, aka, a Kentucky Mule), and also an Odd Couple, equal [good] gin and bourbon, shot of rhubarb bitters, a couple of dark bing cherries - plus a nice, single big cube.

I was able to try Left Hand's Milk Stout on tap an in Nitro form! It is pretty darn tasty!!!! Another good stout!

So far, Stone and Tavour are the only places I have come across that will deliver to my house. Someone has to be there to sign for it, which can be a pain in the butt. But have you found a local place that will hold and deliver items for you? I am in Southern California LA/Long Beach area and I haven't been able to find anything like that yet! I would love to find a place though!

Bevmo do this. Again, someone has to sign at the door for legal and insurance reasons. It's dependent on the area. I've ordered from Bevmo a few times. I can't understand why they slipped my mind in my prior post. Though it's wise to shop around online on delivery service sites to make sure you're getting a good deal. Do a Google query for "alcohol delivery near me" and make sure you have location finding enabled. You'll get a good idea of what's available. California and Arizona can get wine, beer and spirits delivery from Bevmo.

So, I rent a UPS mailbox and have had zero trouble receiving alcohol deliveries there. If you have one close to your place, it can be quite convenient.

UPS? I thought USPS only did that. At one point I was able to buy directly from Southern Wine and Spirits directly. That was some time ago. It wouldn't hurt to call up their California office and see if you can buy individually, especially without a business license. They may have dumped B2C and gone B2B only, but you'll have to see for yourself.

The UPS store definitely accepts packages containing alcohol on my behalf when they are sent to the box I rent there. I don't know about USPS, but I would guess it is the opposite, actually. There are so many places that will not send to a PO Box (for whatever reason the UPS box, which is effectively the same thing, doesn't run into the same problem), and I'm under the impression that USPS doesn't sign for anything.

To be clear though, I have to pick everything up from that point, but if it's close to home it's quite simple.
