===============================================

My eyes enjoy the big screens of modern day iPhones, but my wrists suffer from the weight of them.

I'm planning on making the jump to the new iPhone 12 flagship 5.4" model and am just hoping that Apple can keep the weight down.

With about a month to go until we find out all the specs, I thought it might be fun to have a contest to see who can guess the weight of this all new 5.4" iPhone model. (Due to an unforeseen lack of sponsorship, the prize will only be forum bragging rights. ;) ) ((FTR, 151 g is my own official guess, though I really wish they could bring it back down to 129 g like the iPhone 6.))

Add your prediction to your post and let's see who comes out on top in September!

I´m with you; I let the 11 pro go because of weight and thickness; yes, "it´s just a penny" "it´s just 3 oreos more"; well, for me the 10+10+10 over the years make the last 11 series too heavy for my taste.

138 g like the 7 would be PERFECT.
148 g is my limit, more than that and I´m OUT.

BUT, let's see battery life on this phone...

ght thing". Baring a physical problem, if holding a phone hurts your wrist, maybe it needs to be put down once in a while.
My wife has small hands and she has no pro

I don´t use it that much to have a wrist hurt, but the phone on pants and shorts, when it's heavy, is annoying.

Maybe your wife use purses? in that case I think it would be easier to carry or less annoying (I need a man bag, like Joey).

I just can’t get on board with this "weight thing". Baring a physical problem, if holding a phone hurts your wrist, maybe it needs to be put down once in a while.

As the OP, I guess I should have put something in the title about the purpose of this thread - - who's ever going to figure out what "Guess the weight of the new 5.4" iPhone 12" is supposed to be about?

My wife has small hands and she has no problem with holding and using her 11 Pro Max.

Same for my wife and me. If anything I like the heft of a larger phone.

Yeah, yeah - - you're He-Man and She-Ra - - but again that is not the point of this thread.

Apple will continue to make big heavy phones. There is no danger of your right to heft disappearing.

My own story is that I have a health issue that makes a heavy phone difficult to hold for extended periods of time. austyn23 above prefers not to have his pockets weighed down. A small segment of iPhone buyers are looking for a smaller lighter phone. Whatever the reason, that is still not the point of this thread.

This thread is to "Guess the weight of the new 5.4" iPhone 12".

My guess is 160g. I do like that they have choices now. I am using the SE2020 now and have my 11PM waiting for when this mask stuff ever ends. Neither really bother me except for the SE2020 is a little short, so when I long press on an email banner, the delete option is off the bottom of the screen. I wonder if there is a way to remove the options I don't use or move Delete up the list. Wish they would have just brought out SE+ with the 2020.

My Guess is 148g.

Same as the SE2 (Hhhmmmm.... or maybe less for marketing reasons!)

I’ve got use to weight of the SE2. But boy, I find it too big to use one handed for texting etc!

Cheers
Martin

The weight is really important also for me, the 6 is really light, even compared to the ones that have the same form factor. The weight will depend if they put glass on the back. To be honest, I don’t mind to do not have glass in the back if that makes the phone around 140g.

To me it will probably gain weight by the full screen, unless they make the glass lighter somehow. And the 5G would add, right? Wonder what they will do, if anything, to lighten it.

Smaller battery, RAM, SSD, remove 5G, 4G and build it out of plastic o_O

My guess: 153g-161g.

Interesting thoughts, and nice summary of all the weights OP - that's cool to see.

I feel like I'd base it between the 8/SE2 and the X. Essentially it'll be a 5.4" version of the X, though with flat sides and aluminum instead of stainless steel frame.

Though thinking some more, the dimensions of the 8/SE2 are just a bit smaller than the X, and if the 12 5.4" has same aspect ratio of the X (I'm sure it will), it'll probably be smaller in dimensions than the 8/SE2. Hmmm.

I'll go with 149g as my guess.
