With the watch being able to charge with wireless Qi pads, this could also be a game changer. They will be everywhere soon. Will be easy to top up a depleted watch at a local Starbucks...
android phones have had wireless charging for decades.
starbucks never provided any wireless charging pads for them.
why would starbucks change now?

Because the iPhone is the top selling phone in the world? That's why you see entire markets shift when Apple does something.

Ah... the famous market share number again lol.
My housemaid using a Samsung so I hope Starbuck would treat her right then.
(How about number of Windows compared to OSX? and how many PC you see in starbuck compared to Macbook?)
I was replying to the post that said Apple iphone is the top selling smartphone in the world.
My info is 100% more accurate than his.
Galaxy phones and notes are premium and I bet a lot of galaxy owners drink starbucks as well.I think you should put things into context. It's clear he's talking about "premium" phones.

Even if iphone 8 outsells galaxy 8, the cumulative android phones with wireless charging capability will out number iphone 8's for years.
galaxy S5 was the first Samsung premium phone with wireless charging. It came out in 2014. It has been 3 years since.I doubt that.
I would hazard a guess that the cumulative premium phones will mainly be iPhone for a while.

Starbucks has not done anything for those customers. even if they upgrade phones every 1.5 years that's 1.5 years worth of galaxy buyers frequenting starbucks for the last 1.5 years constantly.
what percentage of starbucks customers do you think own iphone?
If 60%, then what percentage of those will upgrade to iphone 8 or X? 50%?
Then 30% would benefit from the new wireless chargers at the shops.
I am being generous with the numbers here, IMO.
Our discussion was a waste of time from lack of research and information.I will never talk about speculative number but actual number I saw from pre-order has iPhone outnumber premium Galaxy 5 to 1 every year (the Apple phone profit number compared to entire industry, like 90%+, is another). Grant, only new iPhone this year will have wireless charging but the fact that Starbuck won't care for Android phones should tell you all you need to know.
We shall see will Starbuck attitude change now that iPhone coming into the picture but I wouldn't bet against it.

Starbucks cared about Android users.
That is an article from 2014.
android phones have had wireless charging for decades.
starbucks never provided any wireless charging pads for them.
why would starbucks change now?
SF bay area according to the article.I also never see this in my Starbucks. Where is it?
Wireless charging is slow and maybe people do not have time to sit and wait for it to charge so maybe SB stopped the expansion of the service due to cost issues.
android users are early adopters. what can I say?The article was from 2014, 3 years ago. I would hazard a guess they thought wireless charging will be a thing then, then see Apple didn't move so shelved it. In short, they just never care for Android specifically. Apology if I hurt your feeling.
android users are early adopters. what can I say?
The world tried it and apple is copying it even though it was not publicly useful.
If you combine all the androids, Apple's share is only 14-15%.

Profit margin is a different argument. This doesn't change the fact that the iPhone is the top selling phone in the world.
Related note: Samesung releases nearly 100 phones a year.
Apple takes 93% of the profits of the ENTIRE industry

John Gruber said:Apple Watch and the AirPod case are not Qi devices — you cannot charge them on a Qi charging pad.
Typical apple closed ecosystem = proprietary jail system.Kind of shock news. John Gruber stated in his new article that Series 3 and new AirPods case in fact isn't compatible with QI, only with AirPower.
