Would you say this would make you go for the smaller model for those who upgraded to 12.9 for mini led? Or are you set on the current size you have?

I'll probably go for an 11" and use the 12.9 I have now for more work related tasks

The 11" will be perfect for traveling

But I definitely need to see if the upgrade is worth it. Minimum requirement is still decent brightness (better than the Tab S8 Plus / Ultra series) and no more blooming.

I think I will probably stick with the 11”. Tablet size for a tablet device. If they shave a considerable amount of weight off the 12.9” with the switch to OLED then I will at least give it some thought, though. I do love that expansive canvas, but I fear it would be too redundant of a size to have with my 14” MBP.

For me, PWM = migraines so unless Apple figures out a way to reduce that on OLED, I'm sticking to my M1 iPad Pros.

That said, I don't see what feature Apple can add that would make me want to upgrade anytime soon. M1/16GB/1TB is more than sufficient for my needs. The only thing I'd really like to have at this point is better battery life.

Other than OLED, I’d definitely like the front camera position to finally change, maybe thinner bezels if they can manage palm rejection and indeed better battery life.

I also have a feeling they may upgrade the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard

I use a $20 Apple Pencil clone and don't have a Magic Keyboard. And honestly, none of that is attractive enough to make me want to spend $2000 (1TB 5G) plus tax to upgrade.

Here
After being in the 9.7" to 10.5" size class from 2012 to 2021 I decided to get the 12.9" iPad Pro M1 in no small part due to the mini LED display, but also because the hype around the iPad got me. I purchased the Magic Keyboard and Pencil. However, I found that pushing iPadOS just wasn't enjoyable for me. While split screen was better on the 12.9" iPad, it wasn't as big of a deal as I thought since you get two kind of skinny side-by-side apps. This advantage was somewhat mitigated by display scaling as well.

Once I shifted productivity/writing focus off the iPad Pro it became just an iPad - so a TV and browser. Then I got a great deal on an iPad mini which I intended to use as an e-reader and ended up using it far more often even in contexts where it wasn't ideal. I found the 12.9" iPad clumsy for casual use and not optimal for heavy use. Certainly it has its niches (drawing, external display for Mac, etc.) but ultimately its benefits lost on me. Plus I found the mini LED display a disappointment.

I plan to consolidate my iPad mini and 12.9" iPad Pro not an 11" iPad Pro OLED as that set of compromises is the most effective for me. I suppose I could keep my other iPads for their niche uses, but for some reason I find having multiple iPads to be burdensome/uncomfortable as the usage is so unbalanced and so excessive.

11". I always went with that 9.7/10.5/11" size before my current 12.9", but I wanted to try using my iPad as a laptop replacement with the Magic Keyboard (it was manageable, but not good enough for all my needs). Also, I couldn't justify buying the 11" model when it was so similar to my 10.5" Pro since there was no screen upgrade (LCD instead of mini-LED or OLED). The LCD screen was one of my biggest complaints of my 10.5" Pro because of the lack of pure blacks.

But now, with my 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro, the 12.9" iPad Pro is just too redundant. And it's nowhere near as fun as the 11" size to use purely as a tablet. I miss that form factor and being able to use my iPad as a tablet more. I think I'll sell my 12.9" iPad and its Magic Keyboard and buy a 11" Pro when the OLED models are released. I'm so excited for the OLED models because it's been so long overdue for the 11" size, and the blooming on the 12.9" mini-LED is very irritating to me.

I have a 12.9 as a supplemental laptop (to my 16 MacBook Pro) and 11 Pro for more around rhe house portable stuff.

When it comes time to upgrade though, I doubt I'll upgrade both, so I'll probably trade two for one. So, the question is, bigger or smaller? The rumored 14 is too big (the 12.9 is a sweet spot), but the 11 is a lot of fun around the house (and can still be a laptop too).

I won't know until I see the options. If the specs are the same (no different screens nonsense), I'm leaning smaller - 11.

I really like the larger iPad (I have M1 12.9) but with rumors of 13" OLED Pros starting at $1800, that will be a bridge too far me. At that price point, I'll go laptop.

For me, laptop and iPad are two differnt tools for two different jobs. But yeah, I already paid $2300 for a 2TB iPad. Starting at $1800 is going to be brutal. A 2TB will end up going for $3000. Like you said, a bridge too far. They would have to upgrade iPadOS capabilities to be more laptop-like to go that price range.

Same for me re different tools. But a laptop is a tool I need, an iPad is a tool I like but don't need.

If $1800 becomes the starting price for future iPP with just 128-256GB base storage, I reckon I’ll be keeping my M1 for 7-10 years and then upgrading to refurbs.

It's getting to the point now, where an M1 or M2 will last 5-10 years. I remember when the iPad Mini 5 was two years old, it seemed sluggish already. But the 6, after two years, is as fast as any Mx iPad still. The newest generation processors (Mx or Ax) last a lot longer now than the older ones did.

Are the rumours of $1800 iPads Pro likely to be true? I doubt Apple will increase the price that much for the 11 and 12.9 as it will kill the sales. $100 or $150 increase seems more likely while the $1800 price tag is for a future 14-16 inch iPad "Studio".

I don’t believe it at all. I’d bet the 12.9” keeps the same starting price and the 11” gets a $100 increase.

Can all ways upgrade to the M2 iPad pros and get Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 keep in mind that Bluetooth 5.0 is getting quite dated nowadays

bluetooth 5.0 came out in 2016

I downsized from a 2018 12.9” -> iPad mini 6. Both devices felt like a good experiment, but I will get the 11” OLED iPad Pro. The ‘original*’ iPad display size is still the best imo.

Trade in Value on the M2 11” iPad Pro will likely be $350 so $900 ish -$350 trade in I’ll probably jump on that.

I don’t plan to upgrade from my 12.9 M1 2TB iPP, but I would if they offered a larger say 15” iPP M3 with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 4k resolution. About 50% of my iPad use is movies and TV, the black bars are annoying enough to upgrade.
