I think you're missing the main point. Its not about price. Its about functionality for you. $1000 iPad is worth it because it functions very well. $30 stand is worth it because it functions very well.

One look at the amount of bokeh in that video tells me enough about their "DESIGN" values...they're imitating a tried and true formula, and I guess you're the type they're going for
exactly my thoughts, some people think that in an Apple forum everyone is a brainless Apple fanboy who would spend any amount of money just for looks... I can spend thousands of dollars on devices that give me functionality and that I use all day long... What functionality does this give? The fact that it "looks" like a desktop? If anything it removes one of the most functional accessories for my iPad pro, the Magic Keyboard.

yeah, totally. We buy expensive apple products because they work well, not because they are expensive...sheesh. Don't expect me to buy expensive accessories for my expensive devices unless they are worth it.

Yeah, at the beginning I was doubtful about the Magic Keyboard, but when I found one for the 11in pro at $100 from a used stuff shop that couldn't make a difference between it and the smart keyboard (pricing both at the same price) I of course grabbed one. And when I realized how much functionality it added, including for remote desktop, I got it for the 12.9 too, but even then I didn't just go out and buy it at full price. I waited till it was on sale at $229.
I even preferred the white color for my silver 12.9, but it was at full price, so I still got the black one on sale.... It's already expensive enough that I am not willing to pay over $100 more just for looks....

Apple agrees.... that is why they sell a $999 stand for their monitor and $400 wheels for their Mac Pro.

Hold up. You guys are in an APPLE forum. Apple puts DESIGN priority in the forefront. That's why we all go goo-goo ga-ga over it. But when it comes to stands or cases, or anything that is an accessory...oh yes, let me put my $1000+ iPad Pro on a $15 cheapo stand.

Cool. Apple fan logic.

I get it for my 3 year old non-iPad. It's ok to use $30 Stands. I use them and yes, they are still ugly just functional. But Also, I would like a nicer stand as well.

Is that cool with everyone? Sheesh. haha.

Dude, Apple is a premium brand...with years of customer recognition. Why would anyone pay a premium for a damn stand from a random company (which you might be heavily invested in given how passionate you're about defending the stand).

It is overpriced, I would never even take a second look at this stand at this price.

Even the heavy duty aluminium Mstand Macbook stand from Rain Design costed me 1/3 the price of this yours-in-December (or not) scam… I lost much money on KS, should rather spend them in lottery. Buyers beware.

I know he said the real version would be taller, but this doesn’t look like the solution to your hunching.
View attachment 1822920

Isn't a monitor (which in this case an iPad is) ideally meant to be eye level with the centre of the screen? I didn't watch the video as I'm at work, but from that image this is miles off and certainly won't be good for your posture etc. If that's your issue then surely a much taller stand or an external monitor would be a far better solution?

With Centre Stage on the new iPad I’m quite interested in a taller stand for my iPad Pro, but I’ve not see any yet which aren’t sub-$40 or so. I guess this is partially down to the fact that the taller stands require more engineering so that the iPad is attached magnetically and/or has an adjustable arm.

Sitting the iPad low on the desk can be done very easily with any old stand.

If I were going to get a stand for my iPad, it would be something more like this...

...and at $14 a more reasonably priced option.

I had a beautiful 27” iMac that had a board failure after only 2 years. My credit card‘s extended warranty covered the $600 repair, but I decided that a Mac was overkill for me anyway, so I sold it and got a cheap Bluetooth keyboard and this stand for my iPad Pro, for those rare times when I need a desktop (preparing taxes for example).

Bingo! That’s what I might pick up, thanks for the link. I didn’t think it possible, but Amazon has too many products sometimes which can make it difficult to find the right one at the right price.

I have a couple of stands, including this one, for use in different areas. This Kabcon stand is excellent.

I really like the look of that stand but is the 5" lift enough to avoid hunching over?

It is for me but I think there's enough variation in people's working sitting posture that it's the old ymmv. It is definitely a popular stand judging from the reviews and it pops up in the forums fairly often. I like that it's as solid as a rock even with my 2021 12.9 iPP in a (folded) Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case.

Looks nice, but at that price I was expecting it to use the smart connector so you didn't have to plug in the iPad itself to charge and also to be height adjustable.

Yeah way overpriced. I got this stand from ABOVETEK for $39.99 and it is perfect. It is solid, sturdy, and more adjustable than the one in the video. Looks like a huge waste of money, but who am I to say? I spent $99 on the stupid Apple Smart Folio ?

Yeah, but the Smart Folio is portable. You carry it on the iPad in your bag, or in one hand, closed and flat. Just saying.

Isn’t there one out there similar to this that does use the smart connector? I though I saw one. It charges while it’s on the stand.

True, but the Smart Folio doesn't provide the elevation, why I use one. And it will hold an iPad in a Smart Folio or just about any other case.

How does it hold an iPad in a SmarFolio? Even if you bend it back around, it’s not totally flat, is it? (I don’t own one, and while I have seen it in an Apple store, did not try try to fold it back)

I can’t tell that it’s much higher than the magic keyboard, which I use frequently and will admit is too low and creates hunching. This stand surely isn’t the solution.
