The X is worth more then 750-850. I sold mine for 870 locally with out apple care +, which I cancelled instead and got a check for 109.00.

I suggest you look on swappa.com which is where you can get the most recent resale value of the phones. They are not worth what you got. You got lucky from someone that didn't do their research.

Not every buyer cares about purchasing the cheapest iPhone possible based off resale value on smart phones from Swappa. Condition and storage alone can trump value, also depending on the sellers rating as well. For the record, I have sold in the past where the buyer has paid over market conditions, but I having a perfect rating, and My phones are sold in mint condition.

Just sold my 256GB X for $720 after posting it for almost 2 weeks. I feel like that's a bit low but it took so long I'm happy I was able to sell it now before the 12th.

Agreed. The X has had the worse resale value out of any iPhone I have sold since the iPhone 5's. I have never seen a $1200 phone be only worth $750-850 a year later. So me switching to the Note 9, was easier because I know it will lose value too, but it's not much different than the X either.
That’s probably cos there was never a $1200 phone before...
I often bought after the announcement the last years model for 50% off. So that would be $600 for the X.

when I looked on swappa when I was selling my X there were going for around 850-900 and the average was 885.00. Plus mine was in mint condition with no scratches, Plus I had multiple buyers willing to pay that much too.

Well that's kind subjective. I can tell the difference generation to generation with iOS devices, and the difference for me is not negligible at all.

Uploading 4K has to do with your internet upload speed, not the hardware much. Editing 4K, there will be a big difference between generations, and the X or 8 Plus is a lot faster than say, a 6S.

That supposed 50% boost (I personally doubt it will be that big) will definitely impact how fast safari loads pages, but that also depends on your internet connection and other factors.

If you're attaching pics or other things to your emails, the ram and soc differences can be felt. Dunno about Snapchat lol don't use that.
Have you seen actual videos of performance differences in normal tasks between generations on YouTube? It’s really no difference the last few years. Most of this is mental. You assume the newer device is faster. A 7 to an x isn’t really “faster” when it comes to everyday tasks.

Keep dreaming dude. I've had over 40 transactions on swappa, and been using it for 6 years, and can tell you it won't happen. If what they are showing is what I posted above, that is what they will sell for or less. Like someone said, it took 2 weeks at the $700~ price he had his for.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Yep, same here. When I looked 2-3 weeks ago they were around that. But they have drastically dropped due to how close we are to the announcement of the next ones. Sadly, a mint one will not pull what it did 2 weeks ago.

Ok? Touting your ‘40’ (Which isn’t even remotely a high number of transactions to boast on) does not determine what somebody is willing to pay for a device based on Condition, storage and user ratings are highly factored in every transaction.

For the record and more to the point, other members on here sold there iPhone X much higher than your expectations *before* the announcement of the September 12 Keynote. Naturally, the prices will drop due to the 2018 iPhone commencement.

.

Currently, the X value Will and continue to drop. That’s the nature of an iPhone that is superseded by a device upgraded annually. Its not abnormal.

you think that 50% boost will make you load safari faster?
Actually, it will. It's not 2001, modern websites are no joke, pretty much any website out there is JavaScript intensive and sure more processing power helps a lot.

I have to say that the resale values of last years Apple products dropping faster than I have ever seen before. Over the couple of weeks or so I have seen the values of iPhone X, iPad pros and SS and ceramic watches are dropping like a stone on eBay and the exchange stores achieving only 40% of their original purchase value after 12 months.
I think it’s a combination of new products coming and the fact that the used market is saturated with electronic media and communication devices.
It’s going to get worse as well and as the cost of new devices continues to increase year on year, the depreciation will increase as well

What were you expecting? The XS is rumoured to be cheaper so obviously there will be less return

I mean MOBILE websites all will run very similar passed down generations to the 6s. Its really not anything you will notice. once again.
You might THINK its snappier because you just bought it but the last few years for performance(while numbers are going up) everyday performance is to the point thats very similar.
This isnt like going from an iPhone 3-4-5-6-6s.

And your point? You are saying what I was saying. The phone is dropping and continues to drop. 2-3 weeks ago it was worth $850 like I said, but it isn't any more.

I was thinking that the high repair cost may potentially be driving resale prices lower. I've wanted to get an iPX but the $529 out of warranty repair cost is outrageous.

This topic is proof enough that it's not holding the value.

Why would you post this when I directly already said that others had success selling the iPhone X prior to the September 12 Keynote announcement:

Hence for reference, again:

...but do not sell it on ebay you will get scam

SAYS WHO? Define scam re eBay. I've alway sold my iphones (3g, 4, 4s, 5, 5S, 6, 6s, and 7 on eBay and never had a problem EXCEPT for a couple of newbies (zero eBay ratings) who "won" my auction, but then didn't pay. That's not a scam, but it is kinda crappy.

Why would you post this when I directly already said that others had success selling the iPhone X prior to the September 12 Keynote announcement:

In my NON scientific memory, in general, iPhones depreciate about $100 or so from the previous used phone prices, leading up to the keynote and then mildly recover thereafter. I've been getting lowball bids of $550-$700 since I advertised my phone on eBay. Then, I got a winner at $750. The only problem, he then didn't pay. A zero rating. Same thing happened last year.

I'm trying Swappa now, but so far, no joy.

FYI, I have an X with 64 GB, perfect condition, no dings etc. The problem as I see it is when Apple raised the bar to 1,000, they guaranteed we would be lucky to get $700 for it. On eBay, there are several NEW phones (they say unopened), listed for $750.

I'm about to rationalize the sale of my X by trying for $650 and telling myself, it only cost me a buck a day. (1,000-365).

My previous phone sales were about $200 less than the price I paid, but that was when the phones cost about $700.

A sane person would say, "what the hell am I spending $1,000 for a phone for and then spending another $125 a month to use it". No one will ever spring for that deal."

Hmmmmm any estimates on how low the price will fall for a brand new X after release/announcement of the new phones? Obviously there are no data points. Anyone expect the price to end up under $600?

I don't. I expect the price to go back to $700 or close it. Of course, if the rumors of the XS price point of $899 is true, maybe $650 would be the new target.

Ebay seller brand new range from $800 for 64GB 1901 to $1400 for 256GB silver 1865.

I've been selling the current iPhones every year since the 3S. Sold everyone so far, but never seen the market so bad as it appears to be on eBay and Swappa. In the last few days, most of the sales have been generally in the $550-$650 range or close to 40% less than the X's debut last November. Actually over 40% considering sales tax as well.

Never saw discounts like this with hardly any bidding. There are even people "apparently" selling "new" X models for $750-$800 in unopened boxes or so they say.

I"ve got one listed on ebay starting at $650 with no reserve. If it doesn't sell, I'm going to take it off the market and attempt to sell it after Preorder Day. If that doesn't work, I may ride it until the next model appears in Sept '19.

Is this a 2nd thread on the same subject? I just responded to your OTHER one.

This thread had me scared about iPX resale value after 9/12 announcement. But I just sold my iPhone X 256 SG for $800 cash on Craigslist. Glad to avoid paying %13 Fleabay & PayPal fees and no shipping cost.
