Agreed. Unfortunately, flawless MBP screens seem pretty hard to come by, while flawless MB screens are common.

Woohoo, got the Macbook Pro back to Apple and picked up a Macbook Santa Rosa

Agreed. Unfortunately, flawless MBP screens seem pretty hard to come by, while flawless MB screens are common.
If that's the case.... then they all suck? The macbook screens are horrible. I can't look at it from any angle and see an even picture. If you tilt your head 2 degrees, half the screen inverts. I'd rather have an iBook screen.
The MacBook screens seem to vary. My 2006 core duo screen is great, with the exception of the limited viewing angle, but in a side-by-side comparison my new late 2007 one has washed out colors (so far unable to fix with calibration) and a noticeably worse contrast ratio.

I'm wondering if the problems with the SR-based MBs screens (mine is a little "washy" as well) is due to not having the best drivers for it. I did a BootCamp Vista install just to see if the made-for-MicroSoft-chipset would function better, and the image cleared right up. I REALLY hope that 10.4.11 and 10.5.1 have improved SR graphics drivers for the new SR MBs.
I also had to remind myself that the SR MBs are the very first computers from Apple that were "built for Leopard." (they even changed the keyboard functionality in some ways to give it more "multimedia" flavor) As such, I was expecting (although hoping not) to have some glitchy stuff happen. If it isn't better within the next few updates, I may think about switching.
