Woohoo - I've switched another!

I'm now on the grand total of TWO! :)

I bought a PM about 14months ago (having been switched by my Swedish friend) and I switched a Computer Scientist from Manchester University who recently asked his Girlfreind to buy him an iBook for xmas.

Today (I'm so proud of him) my little brother ordered a Core Duo Mac Mini with 1GB of RAM and one of those £20 printers from the Apple Store UK. He says his waiting time is roughly 10days, but thats to be expected from a brand new device.

It CAN run Core Image, plays 1080p H.264, has a DL DVD+R and runs OS X. Best thing he's bought in his life? I think so.

Now if only I had enough money to buy Apple shares.... :)

I just love the feeling that you get when you switch someone over to using Mac OS! :)

For some reason, I get lumped with the lifelong task of free technical support every time I switch someone. It's just part of the switching process. Meh, that's cool. :)

Getting people to switch isn't the only 'Good Deed' I've done today....I also gave blood today. I'm B positive, and it was my 8th time :) That gives me the greatest feeling though. The blood might not go into someone - but they can test on it and it can further indirectly saves lives.

If ANYONE is in the Uxbridge area of London, and wants to give blood they are at Brunel University again tomorrow :)

I feel good today - I've given more than I have taken - now to find somewhere to plant some trees to offset the commute to uni by car every day and back..... :)

Me too. Luckily Mac tech support is considerably easier & less time consuming than Windows tech support
 
Hey, im currently using xp and recently i went into the apple store london, and realised how much i was missing out on. Im completely up for a switch now and trying to persuade my parents to buy me 1 :rolleyes: However, at the moment we have wireless connectivity, will it be easy for me to join a mac to the network?
 
ridiculously, laughably easy. You turn on the comp, and you're wireless.

Unless the wireless network is protected with a password. In that case you have to select the network in the list, enter the password and tah dah, you're connected.
 
Some people don't like to change. I personally don't think I could ever go back to Windows. Just like some people don't like Sony Ericsson cellphones because they don't have dedicated send call/end call keys. I personally love Sony Ericsson phones.
 
great... one mor eperson will have probs..

You lil bro will love you if his logic board fries in a couple days like some of the other people who got the first ones... At least he'll get it replaced... Now ifit happens once he's out of warranty, thats another story....
 
i got my Mom to switch! And my cousins in FL we bought a Mac Mini for(for the kids down there)

I'm getting the young ones to use Mac, so the nest age of computer user all use OS X:eek: (i'm part of my own plan,:confused: )

Thats awesome, Im a new user myself and Im ADDICTED TO MACS and APPLE products in general. My girlfriend will definitely be switching once the life of her dell expires. Congrats on the good deed!
 
Just this evening, I was filling out the FAFSA student assistance eligibility
forms and the web site came up with a full page alert saying that my browser
was not supported and listed all the Windows supported browsers only.

They support Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape for Windows ONLY.

I ignored the alert and continued.

Not a problem at all.

You're just filling in blanks on a web server database.

The application was completed and submitted and confirmed.


I find this sort of thing all the time where MS certified IT Pros haven't a clue of how compatible Mac OSX is in the real world.

It's quite sad that the U.S. Department of Education is SO poorly informed
and out of touch with how many people are using Mac OSX.
