Ditto. I too just signed up to say thanks, mactitude! Your macro just solved my single-most-hated feature (among many) of Microsoft Word. Now I just add a shift to ctrl-v (shift+ctrl+v) to get rid of formatting. Problem solved!

(FYI, your first solution worked fine on a 2011 macbook pro running OS 10.11.5 and Word 2011)

Re: Word for Mac 2011 Paste Special/Keep Txt Only
I fear that the only way to do this is indeed by using a macro. But it's not as hard as it sounds, honest!

Thank you! This makes formatting my thesis (100,000 words + hundreds of cited articles) SOOOOO much easier.

Mactitude, I just wanted to thank you for your amazing post. I don't have much patience with computers, but your post was written so well that you made the whole process seem easy enough even for someone who's relatively new to Mac. I was looking for the solution for quite a while and I am very happy I came across your post, as from now on running my business has just become much easier. Thank you so much x

I just wanted to tell you, as many have, i just registered only to say thank you!!! I am writing a book and have be quite frustrated always having to go through menus just to paste plain text. You'd think it would be an obvious external option. Or at least a choice in preferences.

Anyway, Thank you!!! My hats off to you sir!
