Oh boy, where to start. Let's talk about something relevant to this forum:

When people incorrectly use "back up" instead of "backup" and vice versa.

Superfluous and/or misleading and/or ad-hoc abbreviations.

I don't mean "USB" or "SSD" or similar where the abbreviation is (effectively) the official name. What annoys me is "WQXGA" instead of "2560x1600", or "MS" for "Mac Studio".

"At this time." One of the singers I work with regularly says this, and I just hate it. As in, "I'd rather not have a percussionist at this time." It's just annoying to me.

And, people putting quotes over words when not actually necessary. Just was emailing someone who does exactly that, she said, "How did the 'filming' go yesterday?" What makes you think that filming didn't actually happen/was not actually filming?

Also, people, typically older folks, misspelling YouTube as "UTube."

EDIT: Oh! Also can't forget about those people who spell iPhone "I-Phone," iPad "I-Pad," and MacBook "Mac Book." And those who think a MacBook Pro is a "Mac Pro" or a "ProBook."

So is it really the phrase itself or just the fact that he overuses it? Because I find that phase a lot less harsh than a hard "no."

She says that when talking (or texting) directly with the person as a way to say "no," which I have no problem with. It's just when she overuses it, especially just with me, that's when it's annoying. Also, she's said stuff like, "I want to work on [such and such tune] at this time," which is also annoying to me for some reason.

The latest phrase that has me triggered is for many reasons is, "I'm vegan."

1. It's none of my business
2. I don't care🥱
3. That phrase always come out of left field, always non sequitur.😫
4. I like bacon🤗
5. The person who says that is invariably an obnoxious twit🤨

A phrase that hasn't really come up lately, but a few years ago, we would hear it all the time and fits squarely with the above list: I am a crossfitter... Didn't ask... don't care... Obnoxious twit, pretty much sums this one up for me also.

Used all the time in Tesla fora
Perhaps I need to add "fora" to the list!

The OED (sorry; no Cambridge handy!) says that the correct plural for a discussion website is "forums". While "fora" is a word, it refers to an area for conducting "judicial and other business", and while some foum members like to judge what Apple and Tesla are doing, I don't think that's what the Romans had in mind :)

Yes, and it sounds way too formal even if it were a proper plural form of "forum." It also reminds me of the phrase "flora and fauna" every time I see it 😂

Well, I'm from the US and I don't get it either, and a quick Google search didn't shed any light.
I think the joke is that the poster only heard the phrase once, and it turned out to be the most disastrous thing ever uttered. At least, that's the joke I laughed at.
