World of Warcraft question

OK.... I bought the Battle Chest that has both WoW and Burning Crusade.

So my question is... Am I supposed to install WoW first... play through it... then when I'm ready, install Burning Crusade???

Or... Am I supposed to install both, and just play like a normally do?!

I noticed that the manual seems to be specific for WoW, and the Burning Crusade strategy guide shows alot of changes in the game.

Any suggestions?!

Install WoW, then Burning Crusade. Don't worry about starting WoW before installing TBC.

Install both as with BC you get the ability to play as Dranerie (SP) Or Blood Elves.

OK OK... I'm concerned because it states that once I upgrade my account to 'The Burning Crusade', then I can't go back.

So.. what do I lose if I upgrade? Do I lose all the quests that are listed in the WoW strategy guide?

I have no interest (yet) in playing as Dranaei or Blood Elves... so other than that... why do I want to upgrade my account to The Burning Crusade?

As far as I know, you lose nothing by upgrading, only gain more content. I imagine it does not matter if you wait to install the Burning Crusade, but if you install it now, it will be kept up to date with weekly patches for it too.

I don't believe that the quests for the original WoW in any way conflict with the new BC content. There are probably new people starting the game on a regular basis and they will get the entire original WoW experience whether they have BC installed or not (won't they?).

Once you upgrade your account to Burning Crusade, all it means is that you cant play on a normal WoW game, it has to be with the Burning Crusade.

EG.

You have BC and your friend has regular WoW... if you go round to his house to play on your account, he would need BC for you to play. Otherwise you could log in as usual with a standard WoW account.

This is purely because of the 2 classes that you get from BC and also because if your'e level 61, you cant play on normal WoW because its cap is lvl 60

They will. The reasons to upgrade to TBC are: news races (and with them, shaman class for Alliance / Paladin for Horde) and new professions. Before entering Outland you won't notice any differences in content.

One big advantage of having TBC before you reach level 60 is to have someone summon you to Shattrath so you can set your hearthstone there. The portals to all the major cities make it a lot easier to get around.

Can't decide whether to re-up for the expansion. However, the exclusion of macs by Warhammer has made the decision a little easier.

I'm not too fond of Warhammer anyway. I like what I saw and read at first, but the closer it gets to release the less impressed I am.

After it comes out I'll see what people that have played it have to say.

I wonder if the Outlands will be as empty as the Eastern Plaguelands once Northrend opens up. It was eerie questing in the Eastern Plaguelands with basically no one else in the zone.

No, you'll see a lot of Death Knights cruising through the area, and you'll level pretty fast in Outlands, so you'll be into the next xpac in no time.

Going by my experience with the beta, you'll have tons of Death Knights levelling in The Outland with you (if you are still in the area come November).

Plus the XP requirements will be altered to help level with the next patch (3.0.1, the pre-WotLK patch)

Some advice: save your money from 60+. You're going to earn a ton of cash selling drops/from quests in outland. Also, try to hit 70 without hitting all the zones. You'll earn a whole lot more gold questing in SMV etc at 70 than at 60+.

You should be able to hit 70 and have enough for flying mount/epic flying mount.

With all the dailies money has become a lot less of a problem though, most days I don't even bother to get all mine done anymore O_O.

I quit around the time the dailies got introduced and so never did the introductory quests...and now I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Thanks for the advice. Seeing as you guys are in a giving mood, I'll continue the threadjack: I'm currently specced retribution. I mostly solo PvE, so the DPS plus healing works for me. I want to start doing more instances though (need better gear), and I've heard rumblings that a DPS pally is not always what people are looking for in a group. Also, I was thinking about respeccing to a healadin anyway as the gameplay for a DPS was getting a little repetitive and I wanted to try something different. Long story short, should I wait for the WotLK expansion and the talent wipe before respeccing, or do you think that I should respecc now and start working on gathering healing gear? I'm leaning toward waiting but am interested in others thoughts.

You won't have to wait for WotLK. The 3.0 patch that is coming in 2-3 weeks will have all the new expansion talents and you'll have a full talent refund so you can spec however you want. I was on the public test realm last night and people were in their glory about how wonderful paladins are now. Your line of thinking is right though. Right now, you're going to find a lot of people will say "no thanks" to a ret pally for heroics. I went holy for that exact reason and I can almost always find a group. That being said, holy is not going to be the most optimal way to go for levelling 70-80.

I love my Warrior, I've been playing him since the day came out, but I pretty much always tank for PvE, but I like to PvP on him too. I respec back and fourth twice each week, I spend about 3 days as a PvP spec to do my arenas, and I get a lotta BG and world PvP (and a lot of ganking!) in, then I spend 4 days prot specced for raids and heroics.

I usually still BG on my prot days, its fun to carry the flag as prot, and AV its not too bad. Defending nodes is alright in AB as prot too, but meh.....

I'm glad the respec cost caps out, or it would be impossible for me, haha.

Someday I'll try raiding as a DPS warrior....but I've always got stuck in the tank spot!

They didn't have video games when I was a kid so I guess I have to make up for it now--and WoW is a lot of fun for me. But, I'm really slow and methodical and I'm sure LK will be out for quite awhile before I even get my main character to 70--never mind 80. I am a level (almost) 38 Shaman Orc and have been playing since March.

I am the same way, until i did recruit a friend with my son, and we have been leveling pretty fast. We have 7 Characters lvl past 30 in less than 3 weeks. We are in the proccess of picking 1 character and sticking to it so we at least have a lvl 70 when the new xpack comes out.

IMO, dedicated partners is the way to most enjoy WoW.

Ha, I leveled 60-70 as Prot in 10 days. But I do respec on occasion to MS Bloodfrenzy for raiding. It is good times. Prot is getting huge buffs with the patch and in the xpac. Too bad I will be leveling my DK.
