I very well understood what you wrote and it is the most stupidest thing to suggest to anyone. You are saying see the product in the store and then decide, do you mean to say the store guy will unbox a sealed packed brand new product without paying and then let the OP decide if he wants to buy it or not ? Which store on earth lets you do that ?

In most places they do actually. Where are you from?!

Of course stores let you do that. At least here in the US. When you're spending $1,000+, most stores I've been to will absolutely open the item upon request. For the reasons listed here in this thread. So you know you're getting a good product before parting with your money.

I can't say that the poster will be able to do that at their store in their country. But to say it doesn't happen is just plain wrong.

As they say, it never hurts to ask.

Well strange things happen in the U.S it is one of the very overly customer friendly markets that I have seen in the world. Take for example this, I personally have not heard of where you go in a Store and tell the guy well I am not sure about buying the product you first open the box let me see the product only if I like it, will I buy it !! Whoa ! That's so so cool !! I mean that is a lotto prize money for a customer. I wish it happened everywhere else in the world !! I mean customers are literally pampered in the U.S not that it bothers me or I have any problem with that. But I am just in awe of this system and the kind of things Customers report in the U.S which are absolutely unheard and out of the world in other parts of the world.

I want to get an 11" iPad pro (Cellular), but i'm hesitant since there is no option to return the product in my country (there is no official apple store here, only re-seller). Should I take a risk and buy? thx
No don't buy it. End of thread.

There's a poll here on MR, with a significant number of responses, that indicates that the probability of receiving a bowed LTE iPad Pro is something to consider. If I were in the market for an LTE Pro, I'd want to see it in the store first before buying it. For the non-LTE models, I wouldn't be worried (the percentage is noticeably lower).
If you think polls here are capable of giving any unbiased statistical output, you'd be 100% wrong. Polls like that attract people who have problems on a forum designed to lure people in who have problems. No one is running to macrumors.com to fill out a poll saying their iPad is great. This community is a small subset of Apple enthusiasts and people with problems who are in no way indicative of the majority and far from what the general public experiences

Thanks for chiming in. Now that multiple people have confirmed that opening the item in a shop is often times no problem at all I hope that some people on this discussion file this under lesson learned.

For the 11" iPad Pro with LTE every single one i've seen has a very slight bend/bow at the cellular antenna cut-outs. I've seen over 15 now and returned a few in the beginning due to the bend. I decided to keep mine since I think this is either a small deisgn flaw or an illusion, because it is really only visible from a certain angle and does not impact day to day use.

That said, if you live in a country where you cannot return it then I do not think it's worth the risk (if a slight bend/bow) would bother you. Now some of the pictures on here are visibly bent from an angle. I have not experienced that at all.

BINGO!!!

I live in the U.S. where I could easily return one if it was bent. Regardless, there have been way too many instances where people have bent iPads. I was going to replace mine and my wife's iPad Pro's this year with the new version until I saw the bending issue crop up. I am now waiting until the next version to see if they fix the issue. If I lived somewhere where I couldn't return it in case it was bent there is absolutely no way I would purchase one. And I am one who usually defends Apple in this forum.

There isn’t a bending issue, I own one. Go buy one and see for your self, I’ll bet $100 bucks the first one you buy will lay perfectly flat face down on its screen. You really think apple is going to retail a mass quantity of bent products?

Your only shooting your self in the foot. Hear me out, and read this please.

This bending story started with 1 person saying there iPad was bent longways. Apple was saying there product can have a slight curve at the most of (4) sheets of paper thick in a totally different direction where the cellular portion separates the body of the iPad going sideways.

That’s like me driving in to a building at 80mph with a Toyota Tundra, and trying to sue Toyota due to a stuck gas pedal. But, the gas pedal issue does NOT occur on this specific model lol.

This entire bending issue is bogus. And there are several iPad products whether a phone, or tablet that have already been out for some time. You can hold it flat and look down the side, edge to edge and see it is NOT perfectly straight.

A perfectly round car tire doesn’t exist either, that’s why we add weights and balance them to alleviate there not so perfect round shape..

So, what happens when someone uploads a picture of a bent iPad?

Everyone checks there’s and notices this ever so slightly non perfectly straight edge, that you can only see if you search for it in this weird OCD inspecting kinda way.

Holy crap, mines bent too. I should return it and ge a straight one! Oh wait! A perfectly straight iPad doesn’t exist! Shoot lol!

Mine looks straight, feels straight, and lays flat too just like all the others.
[doublepost=1548903835][/doublepost]
how all these people are bending their ipads by accident? bending them in the short side by accident?

The bending issue came up from a iPad bent longways. Then people started checking there’s, and looking down it on all sides, noticing even the slightest bend, or bow and everyone is saying there’s is bent too. When the cellular models can look like they have the tiniest of a bend if you stare down it’s edge. But, I dunno if it’s really a bend or a optical illusion like another member stated.

I can stare down the edge of mine and kinda see it too. But, it’s tough to see. It lays flat. And my digital angle finder says my iPad is flat as ever!

So starring down the edge of a lot of things may reveal something isn’t perfectly straight, even new cars lol.

But, I call this bent iPad thing all bologna! I’ve handled at least 6 of these. All were straight looking. And while starring down the edge searching for something that you shouldn’t be. When the item in question honestly feels, and looks great and straight!

Ok, so some people who are claiming otherwise, I called up Apple Sales and asked him can I have a brand new sealed box opened in the store without making a payment and only after looking and examining the product and only upon my satisfaction can I make a payment. And I was emphatically denied it. He very categorically said you have to make a payment for us to be able to open a brand new sealed box iPad for you. So for those people who claim otherwise this is not possible. This is official now not my imagination.

So you’d have the option to purchase it, open it, and then return it on the spot if bent. While that would be a big pain in the butt, that’s probably what I would do if concerned. Of course, OP doesn’t have that option.

That totally makes sense !! unlike yesterday where some self proclaimed enlightened people here were suggesting you can have the box, product opened without even making the Payment ! That's rubbish !!

You have to be able and PROVE to apple you can afford to buy one of these. Can you imagine how many would go in and say I'd like you to open a new item and if I like it I'll buy it? That's what the display units are for. LOL

lol ! Totally get it ! How funny some people don't understand such a simple human behaviour !!

Sorry if I am joining this one late, but I recognize myself is some of the OCD-ish worries in whether to buy or not... No offense to the OP:

Here's my two pence of "take" on the issue:

I think we Apple enthusiasts sometimes fall prey to FAPS, or FIDS, fears when it comes to buying a new Apple product.

We end up worshiping the "perfectness" of the Apple Grail Item we are thinking of acquiring, and end up with ambivalence about it being perfect or not. Maybe it is part of knowing the average joes doesn't need or want to spend so much on a silly computing thing, and it unconsciously creeps into our psyche when we risk showing off our fervor through the act of buying the AGI.

FAPS is Flawed Apple Product Syndrome. It is the fear of the item we acquire not being as perfect as we hope for.

FIDS is Flawed iPad/iPhone Derangement Syndrome. Same verse, different chorus.

=======
Break on through to the other side and buy the iDevice, if you must, from a seller who has a 30-day return policy. I believe Apple stores have them. Don't like it? Bring it back.

My pickup truck has a new scratch on it, and yet I still love it. Actually, the scratch doesn't effect the performance at all and I don't think anyone else knows about it.

My LTE 11 inch 1 TB 6 gb ram space grey Verizon model has no bends and I waited till they were at least producing second batches and adding discounts to even make the purchase. I even have a perfectly even display with proper colors & brightness and no light bleed surprisingly with True Tone remaining off(I hate True Tone). I’m just waiting for Apple to one day unlock it’s extraordinary power with a new tablet hybrid iOS with a macOS S version. Otherwise my activities are similar to the basic iPad 2017 and 2018 users....not cool but at least I won the display and bending lottery and this has FaceID without the hideous notch!!!

Loving the Muse case......with 8 angles and perfect iPad protection though.
