iPod touch, but that is for the whole category, not just the first model.

IMO they are not good iPods, because you have to fiddle with the touchscreen to do anything. That's a worthwhile compromise/feature on a phone, but for a dedicated iPod I think it's not good. Hence worst. I know that is an unpopular opinion though, sorry.

This is why my main music player remains the nano. I had a chance to get a touch when I bought my 5g nano, but playing around with my wife's 3g touch reaffirmed my choice; I'm too much of a music enthusiast and not enough of an app/game user. If I want more space for videos down the road, I'll opt for the classic, provided there's still a classic at that point.

I can operate the Click Wheel to adjust volume, play/pause and skip to the next track while keeping it in my pocket, a function that's very useful in a large-crowd situation where thieves may be on the prowl and you don't want to advertise your iPod. I also avoid using the stock white Apple headphones; it's a "Steal My iPod, Please" beacon for pickpockets and muggers.

All music, over 26,000 tracks and works a treat. :)

Interesting. Is it definitely the 2007 model, the one that doesn't do Genius playlists? Also do you have a lot of Smart Playlists? thanks.

Bought in September 2007, it's got the twin platter HD and the big battery (I still get 40+ hours per charge).

Only a couple of smart playlists though, I have very accurate tagging and the classic is so easy to navigate. :)

what about ipod+hp?

thats not even on the list

It was just a 4th gen click wheel with HP branding, it was exactly the same as the one Apple sold.

My 2nd gen ipod touch has been broken or DOA three times and of course I have to take it to an apple store of which there are none where I live again and again and again.

>_<

Currently the wifi is broken.

I wouldn't consider any iPod bad.

My first iPod was a 30GB iPod Photo. It's really thick and looks ancient now but it had features that I wish they had kept with the Classics such as the ability to not display cover art. When this was active, the song title would then fit across the whole screen. On the Classic, the title still only shows on half the screen. The screen was also smaller on the iPod Photo but that didn't matter one bit.

I still use my iPod Photo and it still holds a charge as if it were new.

Can't vote in the poll. No such things as a worst iPod.

Why is the iPod Nano 3rd generation scoring so badly?
I mean I think it's the best one, it has a good battery, you have got very much space for music (Cover Flow!), movies, podcasts, games etc..
And also watching movies on the iPod is very nice, it has a good resolution for that..

The nano 3rd gen's form factor was a major departure from its predecessors' slim, sleek look. In order to play video while still keeping it "nano" sized, Apple attempted to create a downsized version of the classic. Unfortunately, this meant a drastic miniaturization of the Click Wheel. The 4th gen reinstated the "slender stick" look while keeping the video functionality by playing video rotated 90 degrees.

Some enthusiasts were disappointed by the pastel color choices as compared to the bright primary colors on the previous generation. Apple reverted to the primary/"rainbow" color choices in subsequent models, and they've proved much more popular.

another vote for the 3gen shuffle. I thought the earphones design and placement of the controls was really bad especially when you have it during a workout at the gym. the weight of the controls on the right, bounces everywhere when you are running which was really annoying. and when you go to the water fountain...the earphones due to the contols being on the right near your face....gets in the way when leaning over for a drink.

The first and early ones are the ugliest ones because people just didn't know what to think of them.

Not sure if it counts, but it sure deserves to be in some hall of shame. Motorola ROKR, was sometimes marketed as a iPod replacement with a phone... it was god awful.

Why so much hate for the 3rd gen nano? I know most people don't like the looks but it was much easier to hold in the hand and is still the biggest step forward in features to date in the nano line.

Of course, I might be biased because I had one.

See my previous post for one possible reason.
In its defense, I will agree that it's nice to watch video on the 3rd gen; it's so far the only nano that plays video in an upright position.

Whether it's the biggest step forward in features can be debated, though. The 5th gen has a jump in screen size, a built-in FM radio, and a built-in speaker for watching video without having to wear headphones (really handy for placating a fidgety kid). And then there's the video camera.

The newest shuffle is impractical. I'm not a fan of the Touch as a whole. I have an iPhone and an iPhone without 3G is just a machine to play crappy games on to me.

I'm still bitter about the iPod touch 3G (32/64 gig) for not containing a camera or microphone. It has to be the lamest iPod upgrade in all of ever.

I did miss the 3rd Gen ipod with the four buttons with touch sensitive wheel

But the 1st gen ipod 5/10gb came with a mechanical scroll wheel and the 2nd Gen came with a touch wheel, still with buttons around the wheel as the poll showed

Yeah, I loved that one too, because of the light-up buttons on it. Very easy to hit play/pause/etc. in the dark. It still runs too, knock on wood.

iPod Mini, worst ever... Or tied with iPod 3rd gen (4 button on top) those IMO are the worst. It's so fat and bland, not to mention the metal casing chipped when dropped.

It was the first iPod I owned, back when the engraving on the back was brand new. Mine said "Property of <my name>" then I let my friend borrow it for a day, and someone in his class used a regular eraser on the engraving and completely destroyed it.

I was devastated
