Well this is my theory, if people who control the website are non-designers or what I seen at my job, if sales people have total control of everything. I would expect to follow this mentality, "Bigger the better, more is better"

Well, well, well.

So, you don't like my website, eh?

For all our amusements (but especially your friend who logs in here, Andy5000), I will launch into a tirade, hehehe.

Dear web mac expert, I make a very nice living from it; I have won Website of the Year from the motor industry (Automotive Management), I sell over £2m of new cars per month directly from it and I have done it all myself (with help from Mark Stoddart, a Sunderland Uni student). I have won Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 despite being a bloody yellow belly Chinese immigrant (this is after learning English, duh), and all my business is from my website, I have no other route to market. FHM magazine put me in their top 100 websites in the World. I was CAR Magazine's top 7 website. I mean, obviously all these people are stupid, and YOU have no sense of fun. Who else can import their sister to make Jeremy Clarkson ChopGEAR spoof movies?

So basically, Andy5000, bog off. Until you can come up with ANY website that can generate over £200k in income per year, I suggest you shut your trap. Do you own Google or something? I'm sure you are very perfect at design. Lovely. Hope your perfection pays the bills :)

My customers like it, that's the main thing. The Dragons on Dragons'Den wanted to invest in it. No one else can come up with such content (like 600 customer letters). Participation from my customers on the website is the best in my industry, maybe better than most here.

So it doesn't fit your shiny white plastic iPhone battery failure world. Find me something on my website that doesn't work! You mac people (sorry to generalise) are so much up your own bottoms... but then so are people who think PCs are great, too. They are all just tools. Like a hammer, donk.

regarding the lingscars site i chatted to one of there online team on the live chat thing and asked how customers react to there website and if they thought it was cluttered. and there response was people didnt think it was cluttered email our web team, which i was quite tempted to.

Well, good for you! That "web team" is me, and your intelligent comments probably went straight in the bin. "Cluttered" - oh!, the worst word in the world. I have broken a Mac rule, I guess. Even more cluttered these days :) I'm the only car sales site in the UK to give everyone full environmental data, and this week i have just given everyone full euroNCAP crash test data. So, it's cluttered, so what? It's not a bloody art gallery! Thanks, anyway. Appreciate your concern.

Rant over :)

Re: LINGsCARS

I actually agree with Ling, lingscars.com stands out from other plain, "properly" designed web sites.

The site is not "elegant" or "Web 2.0" but it's good in some "cheesy marketing" kind of way. It reminds me of a big newspaper sheet with a lot of classifieds. Everything is there, more important things are in the bigger print. Yes, it's different, but definitely not a bad design.

And frankly speaking, new apple.com website reminds me of a funeral every time I visit!

Ling,
I dont know how else to say this, so I'm just gonna say it. Your website is horrible. It is not only a bad design, totally devoid of any color scheme (white, green, pink, blue, what is it?!) or organizational layout (where can I search? I look for 30 seconds), but it takes forever to load (do you really need every single car listed on the front page? What about all those images which dont do anything-I couldn't care less if you "eat dragons for breakfast". Not only that, but it spectaculaly fails W3C validation with 3135 errors (linky poo) You even fail CSS validation (which is not easy to do) with an error and 9 warnings. Because of your site, I cannot validate my site now because I downloaded too much from their site because of your errors.

And I hardly consider not getting what you wanted on Dragons Den and not being able to say how much you make or whatever Duncan hurled at you "eating dragons for breakfast".

I dont care how much money you make from it, its rubbish.

EDIT: The number of errors just went up to 3140 errors
EDIT 2: I just realized the error in your sites name: LINGscars.com ;)

Ling,

Pretty harsh. Here's a real world perspective: If she makes money from the site who gives a damn what it looks like or how many things it doesn't validate with. Ling's dealing with real life, not a coding manual. A "rubbish" site is one that doesn't do what it's intended to do. In this case that's bringing in custom, and since this site does that I wouldn't say it's "rubbish" by any definition. A website is just a tool. If it works, it works.

It is a personal opinion that i dont like the website design.
I didnt anywhere say that i was a mac expert. i have only been using macs a year and still very much use pcs on a day to day basis. As you said they are just tools, so no need to say just because i am a mac user that design is everything.
I didnt say anywhere that every website has to be as minimalistic as google or apple.
I appreciate your business is doing well and revenue is all from the website. i was just stating it wasnt a very good design.
Youtube comments also show i am not the only one to find the website confusing.
That was the point that i wanted to raise and not that your business wasnt successful, which i can see it is.
My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Oh, God!

Can't anyone take offence properly these days? You are a macbaby then? An iPoo? If YouTube users are confused, that hardly says anything, 95% are thick as mince skoolkids.

I hate these wishy washy weak windy weaselly words. I have been practicing alliteration this week. Pssssh... where is the passion?

ZzzzzZzzzzzzzzzZZZzZzZz...

i didnt come here to start arguments.
