I use Dreamhost for my personal site, but I'd not use them for a production web-app (such as a store).

once I started using PHP/joomla, it got kinda slow

I've only seen slowness with some PHP apps - Gallery especially, rather than across the board. My own PHP apps as well as WordPress run much more quickly.

Despite their gimmicky name, I loved namesarecheap.com. I now use Gate.com, which is also great.

HostGator is the worste web host ever

Stay far from host gator. Don't say you weren't warned when they arbitrarily - without notice - decide to suspend your account because their weak security systems allow hackers to use your website to send out SPAM and phish, and then they accuse you of doing it.

They used to be good but I am sorry. I apologise to everyone and anyone who I ever referred to Host Gator. Host Gator is the worst web host ever.

If you want a professional shared web hosting service, check out bluehost. They have their sh*t together, offer good deals with excellent support and uptime, and they will not jack you around. Yeah, you can save a buck or two a month elsewhere, but you get endless headaches for it (with the exception of ASO if your needs are minimal).
