Yeah, that's pretty bad. I can tell they have been (probably) using MS Word. I can tell from the smart quotes and smart punctuation all turned into international characters.

I remember the first Southwest Airlines web site. That was pretty bad. They modeled it after an airline ticket counter. Those were the days.

Far from the worst I've seen. It's an example of what someone with no formal color theory training can create though.

I've seen some pretty bad websites before, in terms of information design. I'm talking about large sites with numerous design choice errors and mistakes.
Formal color theory? Come on, I hope there isn't such a thing. I've never had and "formal color theory" but still know how to produce appealing pictures and websites.

Seizure warnings

Guys, we need warnings for this thread, these sites can induced seizures... really!

That Jesus site gets my vote, too.

... and I'm a Christian. Yikes! Way to not get your message across.

Me too. My eyes still have the color burn in from that site.

I have some pride.

Really bad. Just out of curiosity - how did you happen to find it? What search leads you there or do you know someone or worse - you made the page to create a post ;)

I found the site when I was looking for places to submit my resume. These people didn't make the cut.

Looks like it was done in Microsoft FrontPage. :p

When my wife say that site, she said it was a Word doc. A quick check of the source indicates it's GoLive. Some people don't deserve to own software.

And would you have these guys design your Web site?
http://www.able-web-design.com/

Direct quote from their site (emphasis mine):

Another good web site cost example is this Able Web Designer site you are currently at. As of October, 2000, the cost to create this site is about $5,000. Sure, it looks rather simple and straight forward, but all the pages have been revised many times. Some pages were not exactly what I wanted and are not used, flash samples take many hours to produce and fine tune. I am a bit fussy, though not a perfectionist. Several hundred dollars have been sent to various web businesses for marketing purposes. Other pages are not quite ready and under development and will be added in 2001.

I dunno. That one's not terribly stylish, but it's not bad for what it is. That was pretty much the state of the web, circa 1996 :)

Haha,so true. Hysterical stuff.

But, I'm pretty certain that thse sites are only the tip of the ice-berg, I'm sure there's a lot out there.
I hope not - but I'm pretty certain there is.

I had a whole semester of color theory.

It was painful indeed.

I nearly died when I saw the Jesus site...I had to squint to even read the title.

Seizure Robots...seizureific, but it had an add about mail-order brides, so I it can't be THAT bad ( :p )

For pure funniness though the graphic designer's 5,000 dollar website wins hands down.

I think those websites may have messed up my computer a little bit. The MIDI file in the background of the intentionally bad site is now looping over and over again, nothing seems to stop it.

I have even exited Safari and come back and it's still going!!!!

Don't worry, there is a plug-in that works with every browser.
