See here (@2m37s) the standard cleaning cloth. The same one used to come (maybe still comes) with MacBook laptops.
Interesting, thanks for the link. I could have sworn I read the cloths were the same, but they may have been for the pro display only, or perhaps I dreamed it up.

Here's three different pictures of the 2014 5K and the 2020 5K Nano (True Tone off) taken with my iPhone Xs Max at x2 zoom (I tried labeling pictures but didn't work when I imported--first one is always the 2014, second one is the 2020 Nano). The pictures show a lot more interference or moire patterns on the 2014 that you do NOT see in real life. I tried to make the two displays appear the same brightness and use the same distance for the pictures--not 100% successful and take with a grain of salt...<G>

Thank you! These are nice comparisons, and the kind of shots I dimwittedly didn't take w my camera lol...

How would you describe the difference in the sharpness between the two screens when you're sitting at a normal viewing distance doing normal tasks?

Are you happy with your Nano?

I really think they appear equally sharp--there is some kind of difference between them due to the Nano "effect", and if I force myself and look at various angles, I can tell a difference, but since I'm in a home office with both facing the window (even with shades drawn), I appreciate not being distracted by the reflections. I've worked several hours on each at night, with no reflections due to the window, and I think I may slightly prefer the Nano, so, am gonna keep it. I can certainly see where this is going to be a YMMV thing, and do urge all to directly compare these in the Apple store, or somewhere.

Great comparisons, thank you. Although I’m looking at them on my matte screen iPhone....

I myself have always preferred a matted display as I can't stand the glare that comes off of glossy screens. I find a matte screen more pleasing to look at and also much easier on the eyes. But everyone is going to be different here.

To your question though, I don't think there has been a lot of discussion regarding the Nano screens because the people who have ordered know exactly what they are getting. Those who don't and think "Hey this looks cool, no glare and it will look exactly the same as my glossy screen" are the ones who have an issue with it.

I was always the same, I took the matte option without fail when it was available previously. Maybe I will like the nano texture, but based on the talk online it seems most people are mortified by the loss of clarity. I don't remember that being the case at all in the early days of the glossy screens (which I struggle with in bright rooms).

Keep an open mind about it until you've seen one. There seem to be a couple of noisy commenters, and whether they have poor examples of the screen I don't know, but there are a lot of us out there with both and the nano is one of the greatest improvements on this iMac for me. No way would I go back to the glossy now.

If you're referring to me, (which I understand you may not be) my 'noisiness' comes from what I perceive to be a seriously lacking example set of side-by-side comparisons between the two screens in regards to the sharpness/softness difference between them. I actually believe that the fidelity of the Nano-texture screen was inadvertently misrepresented by the majority of early-reviewers of the new iMac.

But yes, it is of course a matter of personal preference and utility and my posts and language are really meant to reinforce a "try it before you buy it" mentality as much as possible to reduce the number of people who get a machine they want to return because they didn't properly understand the trade-off's between the two types of displays offered.

It's made tougher by the coronavirus limiting many people's ability to go to an Apple Store to see a Nano-texture display – plus, from what I was told by an Apple Store employee (and heard from multiple people on here), it's pretty rare that an AS would even have a Nano-texture screen on display, whether it be a 2020 iMac or a ProDisplay XDR...

But anyways, the more information available for people to use to make a choice, the better! 😄

Thanks for your comparisons. I was going to go with the nano until I read your posts. The main consideration for me is image quality, as there is not a lot of glare in my room. Therefore I think I'm best with the glossy screen.

Like most, I'm not able to go to an Apple store due to covid, so I appreciate your image samples.

I received mine in today, and its what I thought it would be and I really love it. I can see why others may not like it, but I don't really see a measurable loss in clarity and the non-glare is soooo nice. I'll post some pictures up tomorrow.

Thanks, Donnation - we have been awaiting your first impressions! 😀

No doubt too soon, but please post your experience and results when you clean the screen.

Thanks !

I guys, my new iMac arrived today, unboxed and re-boxed in half an hour... nano texture is really "bad" regarding colors and sharpness, it seems there is strong haze all over the screen :(

I'm awaiting a response from Apple on how to send it back and buy a new one with glossy screen

Cheers

Marco

I have 3 Dell UltraSharp monitors connected to my Mac Pro, 1 43" and 2 24" monitors. Hope the Nano glass monitor is as sharp as these Dell monitors. Anyone can compare their sharpness?

Did you return this and get a response?

He already told us, what are you asking him specifically? He mentioned that he returned it because he wasn't happy with for the reasons he stated. Or am I missing something here?

So now that you've have both can you say a little more about the difference between the two?

Don't really understand how people can like the Nano Glass, colors are dull and text fuzzy.

Apple made a mistake introducing and advertising this option on a con(pro)sumer product, event more during a pandemic so people can't see them in Stores. Youtube review are dishonest on Nano Glass, it's really ugly. I understand it lower reflections, but the tradeoff in colors , saturation, sharpness are not acceptable
