I want to capture quality convenient footage and do want the option of flexibility when in low light conditions but dont really want the biggest phone. Is the Max a big improvement over the 12 Pro or will I barely use the extras of the MAX?

From what I can see the only difference between 12 Pro Max and 12 Pro camera is that the 12 Pro just has less zoom due to lesser Telephoto camera, but that’s it:

But maybe I missed something?

The Max sensor is 47% larger on the wide lens, larger pixels, better for low light.

Wondering if its really worth the extra cost to go with the iPhone 12 Pro unless you decide to get the Max. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro specs are almost identical except for Lidar and telephoto lens (in the Pro).

$150 for stainless steel, telephoto lens and LiDAR. They've definitely closed that gap this year.

This might be the first year I skip the Pro and go with the iPhone 12. It bothers me Apple left out image stabilzation and larger camera sensor in the iPhone 12 Pro.

I've always wanted to go for the 'cheaper' model when they were announced (5c, Xr, 11) as I loved what they did with the more colourful options, but this year the colours don't excite me as much. An orange (similar to the bit of orange in the event invite) would have been awesome.

The small 12 Pro doesn’t have image stabilization? My 11 Pro has it. How come the 12 Pro doesn’t?

They spent like 5 minutes of the keynote talking about the Max’s unique camera features, so that says something. As a non-Max user, I’m going to be gutted when/if the reviews show a demonstrable difference in normal pictures. It’s selfish to say, but I’m hoping the difference is very minor!

Im personally not getting the MAX by any means and its painful to see that the MAX got a better camera this year, that thing is simply too large to use on a daily basis so if i do upgrade this year it will be the small iPhone 12 Pro, i need a phone, not a phablet.

What are the differences between the REGULAR iPhone 12 and the small iPhone 12 Pro?

Stainless steel frame, inclusion of a 3rd camera lens (telephoto), and LiDAR. I think that's it?

Edit: Also HDR video recording with Dolby Vision up to 30 fps on the 12 and 60fps on the Pro.

In that case the 12 Pro is justified over the standard iPhone 12. Man I just wish the small 12 Pro had the Optical Image stabilization on the third lens as well. Oh well.

So the ultra wide lens is the only one that has the different optical image stabilzation?
Not the Ultra Wide. The standard 1x wide lens is the one with better stabilization on Pro Max. The other lenses all have the dual lens OIS.

Ouch, if thats the case then its worse than i thought , the main lens is very important.
