What problem did the iPhone solve? What problem did the iPad solve? I'm not saying the devices are useless, I'm saying that we weren't running around wishing we had apple cellphones. iPhone was completely useless... until we got them. So the watch may be great, and it may not.

Would Steve Have Released This Watch?

iPhone solved the UI problem we didn't know we had! Instead of manually scrolling through endless menus, we now swipe! Instead of clicking some tiny button, we now touch a screen! Instead of clicking down a page line by line, we scroll.

Be honest, would you go back to a dumb phone after experiencing "touch UI"?

Now ask me if I'd go back to an analogue watch.

this is a fun thread but I really think this device lacks the sex appeal and the killer features that most Steve Jobs launches in recent years had.

A reminder, and an additional thought

Having worked for Steve, twice, this project was in the works while he was still alive.

Based on something said by Tim Cook: No work on the Apple Watch whilst Steve Jobs was alive

There's an archive of an automatically generated transcript at http://web.archive.org/web/20140910...clusive-tim-cook-moments-apple-makes-25388665

"… we started working on it after his passing …"

Then you'll know that Steve killed / tabled tons of projects that were "in the works" that he had previously approved because the finished product didn't seem complete, ready, or "perfect" to him.

This seems like something that he probably thought was a good idea, something that would develop along, but I can't imagine him giving the thumbs up to a watch that won't even last a full 24 hours before needing a recharge.

No disrespect to the experience of mdriftmeyer but given Cook's words, I agree with the sentiments of Number 41.

Recharging aside, for a moment: I imagine Steve not approving the GUI in the current context (with the hardware as it's currently designed).

let the man rest in peace.. All apple products since his death have done well and there is no reason why this wont.
There should be a third option as to do not care. no vote i'm afraid.

wouldn't be surprised if people started queuing up for this like the iPhone 6. Just fan boys and girls alone, who btw have no interest in actually using this watch, will queue up and buy this making apple ton of money. The rest of us who actually like this product will be surplus income to the company!

Seems to me people project their feelings on to Steve way too much. They don't like something Apple is doing then Steve wouldn't have liked it either.
