Fast charging, over time, can degrade the battery.

Time degrades all batteries. I don’t know if fast charging is tougher on the battery than slow charging and I don’t care. Thing is, I bought my phone to use as I wish, not to see how long I can make the battery last. Batteries are consumables, that’s just how it is.

I see that it's almost 20g heavier, which is not good.
It's basically an updated iPhone 8. (same weight as 8)

20g is nothing in my opinion. Since you don’t specify what improvement you’re after, let’s just assume overall snappiness. The 6 was slow and the 8 was significant improvement already in pretty much any use aspect. The SE replaces the 8 and should be even better.

My iPad mini 4 is painfully slow compared to my XS Max. Installing apps, updates, you name it. If time is money, and you value your time, the SE is a good deal and a solid upgrade. I got my phone about 3 months ago, and had I known the SE was coming, I would probably have waited.. I don’t mind the old looks, it’s familiar, comfortable.. but I also like the new looks. Since I started with a 4S, then 5S, 7, XS Max, I will just hold out until the next S model, or two. I’ve got two years of AppleCare so I will make use of it.. I’ll probably run it caseless after about 10 months 🤔

🤪

I have computers already, so I already know there is always something faster just around the corner. What I can’t or don’t want to do with my phone I use them. I can say for sure hands down this is a much nicer experience with this phone over my 7. This is how an iPhone should be. No offense to SE fans, but I’ll be making payments on this one for awhile lol.

I still have another line, and my wife is due for an upgrade, maybe I’ll get her an SE instead of an 11. She likes both so we’ll see.

In effect, yes. The iPhone 6 (unlike the 6S) isn't compatible with the newest software updates. That would be a main driver for me personally. The 6S is the oldest phone I would personally recommend to people because of that alone. The speed and camera capabilities, as well as a new battery would be enough for me to upgrade (which I'm doing...and I'm on a phone newer than the 6).

I purchased my son a new-old-stock 6S for Christmas, but I wouldn't have considered a 6 if it were the option solely because of out-of-support status. I need my kids on the newest software to have correct ScreenTime and iCloud functionality.
Not to criticize your choice but wouldn’t a 7 have been better? The 6s likely is about to be dropped this year when iOS 14 comes out.

Certainly, if it was available at the time at that price-point. It's a kid phone. My standards are different when it comes to phones that aren't handled gingerly like my own.

At $100 for the 6s and likely $200+ for the 7? No, not really.

Afaik, iOS 14 is only dropping the A8-based iPads. Just because there are no more firmware updates, it doesn't mean that the device and apps suddenly stop working and the iPhone immediately turns into a brick.
