Jony I've went down that unapologetically plastic route before and it didn't work out for Apple very well.

Really? How so? I remember when that phone released, it was fairly popular in my area, given it was limited. Also, it wasn’t ‘Plastic’ per se, it was actually hard coated polycarbonate that was fairly durable for what it’s worth.

Jony called it “unapologetically plastic” in one of those little movie voiceovers if I remember correctly. They might have been popular here and there, but again, as I recall, they did not sell well enough to meet Apple’s expectations. Or so the talk was at the time. They never did repeat that strategy. The Xr is as close to that product concept as they have been in years, and only in terms of color palette, really.
