That'd be the world's shortest-lived device ever made by Apple.

And it would be the only non-functional device ever that made its presence at the Apple Museum......

...on a display inside an employers-only restroom somewhere only treasure hunters can spot.

How do you use it?

With a mouse and keyboard, of course.

So would you buy one?

Yes! If the only other difference compared to a current iPad Pro is a decent amount of RAM and the option to boot macOS I would easily pay $3500 for it.

(Id prefer to also have touch, and the option to boot iPadOS, but not having it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.)

Then you may as well get a Macbook lol

That makes Zero sense, especially for Apple to release it. Sounds more like a glorified keypad than any sort of tablet.

Non-touch… so… like... a MacBook then? Yeah, I think Apple selling a MacBook would be a great idea. I’d buy one. Definitely. Tim Apple, let‘s get this done.

I’m surprised Apple hasn’t released one yet. Yes a non touch iPad. How do you use it? Buttons on the sides and on the back. So would you buy one? I believe there’s a market for it.
My dad has had a few. Usually after a couple of years it stops being non-touch and I can use it.

Seem to recall that Barney Rubble of the Flintstones had the patent pre- Apple for similar model. Included a sundial too.

They could also sell only the bottom part of a MacBook, without the screen! Just a lightweight computer you can carry and connect to an external screen when on the go! The market for that would be probably as big as a non-Touch iPad (meaning huge market)

Even the cheapest tablets are touch screen.

What market do you envision this working in, every app in the world is designed for touch.

You need something even smaller than the 13 inch m1 mba???
Apple did sell Macbooks with even smaller screens. I had an 11” MacBook Air (2015, I believe). I loved that little machine (with very capable specs for the time). Such a great size for carrying around everywhere, all-day every day. I kind of wish they would go back to 11” size, but now I also use my 11” iPad Pro as a small computer that I carry around everywhere.

But (again) I would be REALLY interested in an 11” MacBook Air again. There are no rumors of one, so I obviously don’t expect one. However, it would be awesome to have that size again with an M3 or whatever.

I miss those very small notebooks. I really dislike big boat anchor laptops (not that apple is particularly bad in that regard)

No, as touch is what makes an iPad an iPad. Even with the Magic Keyboard, I would still get the M1 MacBook Air.

I know they did, but how can someone even use such a small screen with a keyboard...

I own both a 11.6 MacBook air and a 12in MacBook and the screen size is absolutely fine. Not a device you want to use for split screen, but not everyone needs to do that (or will simply use a second monitor for that (or an iPad on the go as second monitor).
Having said that, my main on the go device is now a Thinkpad Nano, which has a 13in (not 13.3) screen on a body that is the same weight as my 12in MacBook and has cellular too.
However I'd absolutely buy a 2 pounds MacBook with Apple Silicon, especially if it has cellular. You no longer even need to have the screen under 13/12.5in since you can just make it with smaller bezels nowadays...
