Some people won't agree with me here, but I like phones with big screens and I want the Galaxy Note 2 to do really well when it comes out soon after being announced tomorrow.

The Galaxy Note 2 might be too much for my daily use, but I still want it to sell like crazy, simply because I want 3.5 inch adherents to realize they're not the only people that matter, and I want every major company including Apple to follow Samsung's example and take their phone screen past the 4.3 inch norm today and get into the big leagues with phones in the 4.5 to 5.5 inch form factor.

Whether its movies, typing, viewing web pages and photos, having more battery life because of the need for a bigger battery, a bigger phone just makes sense considering smartphones are the fastest growing piece of tech.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind if companies make phones for people with tiny hands and skinny jeans but considering we're going to have an iPad Mini pretty soon, Apple might be focusing efforts on an iPhone that goes into the 4.3-4.8 range.

Maybe then I'll consider switching back.

EDIT: Ignore where I only mention Android in the poll. I forgot to include Windows Phone users as well. Sorry guys. Consider yourselves in there too.

Look at the bright side. If they add phone functionality to the iPad mini, you can have the 7.8" phone you've been dreaming of.

Misrepresentation is your strong suit isn't it?

I notice a lot of you guys love to do that whenever you smell the opposition around.

People actually ditched the iPhone because of screen size? I must not get it. I had a Droid X and frankly, it was a bit too large in my pocket. Using it was nice of course but I don't seem to mind the iPhone's size today.

For me it wasn't JUST screen size. I guess I was just ready for a change of pace. I am sure I will love Android for at least the next 2 years and then perhaps I will return to Apple, who knows?

Lots of iPhone defectors like myself out there lately. Notice that? Maybe the recent creation of the very subforum you're in wasn't enough of a wake up call to you? Maybe its because people are outgrowing the iPhone and Apple has to do some growing of its offerings to keep up?

Adrift in a sea of possibilities
I have an iPhone, a 3GS. I love it. I'm looking to get the 'new' iPhone when it launches later this year, even if it's screen is the same size as the 4/4S.

My son has an Android phone, and I hate using it. Nice big screen, sure.

All in all, it's a phone. If I want a big screen for reading or gaming, I'd rather do it on an iPad.

I'm sorry but where was anybody bashing Apple?
I think this is a good question by the OP.
To answer the question.

Right now I'm happy with my new phone the HTC One X but I have nothing against the iPhone as I used one since 2007.
Yes I would go back if they make the screen larger then 4.3" and open their OS just a little like a unified sandbox for everyday used files like Docs and pictures and stuff.
I don't need full access to the file system but it is quite restricted right now.

This is one of the things I like right now, that I can pull my files from anywhere to any app if they support that file type.

So yes a couple of changes and I would go back but right now I'm very happy with Android and it has been and is fun to learn a new way of doing things.

The "perfect" size phone for "most" people is around 4 inches (in terms of physically holding it and still being able to use it one handed).

Personally the Galaxy S (4 inch) and Motorola Atrix (4 inch) pretty much proves you can use one hand with the phone (even for smaller hands).

4.3 is getting a little large and probably the upper most size limit for many people. It's not to say people can't use 4.65, 4.7, 4.8 screens (Gnex, HTC One X, S3). But those are larger (especially longer phones).

I've owned every size except for the Note (5.3 inch). Apple's iPhone shell can handle 4 inches easily by reducing some of the bezel area. Most people will be happy with that.

A 4.3 inch iPhone is very doubtful. Apple likes to make gradual changes and there is zero indication Apple intends to make a 4.3 inch iPhone so poll is pretty much invalid. And yes, if they made it, people would still buy it.

Then why the constant berating of iOS. If you've matured beyond iOS then why compare and contrast the difference, why not simply discuss the merits of your new found love? I don't post how great my new found love for iOS at droid forums and how the droid users are really missing out. I will continue to post in your anti apple posts.

On topic. Current screen size would not be a major factor in deciding which OS I would use.

Such a device would only solve my contentions on the hardware-side. There's still the issue and limitations of iOS... ;)

I use a 4S and I plan on keeping it for awhile however a 4.3" iPhone would probably convince me to upgrade. If nothing else I'd probably be jealous a bit.

At no point in time of the OP, did the OP berate iOS. He asked a legitimite(sp?)question of interest.

Nothing is forcing you to come all the way down to the gutter with the rest of us miscreants who post other than Apple rhetoric here. Why so mad bro? You can choose to float happily in the topics above ground level here to read only Apple happy posts.

I posted yes, that I would consider switching back. I've had multiple Android/Windows phone devices since leaving iOS. Currently, I have an HTC One X from AT&T which I really do enjoy, but I'm still having certain issues even with that. From the first iPhone I had (3GS) to the last one I had (4), I really had no issues other than my proximity sensor on the 4 - which I swapped for another at the Apple store, and didn't have the problem again. I went through 4 Samsung Captivates, 4 Nokia Lumia 900's, and I'm on my 2nd One X, all for various issues. I do think Apple puts out superior hardware, no doubt. But I did jump ship for the larger display and the open OS. I would like to see a larger display, and LTE. If this happens, I more than likely will be back.

Because I got fed up with iOS as a former iOS user. Does this place not have constant criticism of Android despite being an Apple forum? Is there a rule against either? No. This place is for talk about alternatives and there's bound to be criticism of iOS here. If you don't like it, stay in the iOS forum.

I will continue to post in your anti apple posts.
Like I give a crap.

I don't get these people. First they complain about the many people who are fed up with iOS/iPhone and they beg the admins to make us a subforum, so the admins actually make one and then instead of letting us talk all we want without bothering them, they come HERE to argue with us because we left those areas and they must have gotten bored because clearly they want to be angry at somebody and they want to argue.

Do these people want to discuss the products they love or do they simply just want to have somebody to feel superior to?

To be honest with ya'll I LOVE to debate. I am soo happy the mods created this forum, because other than some babyish mudslinging, the conversations that were the most stimulating and controversial were the ones that live now in these sub forums!

If someone was slagging stupidly on Apple, I would debate the good qualities and vice versa with Android.

Yeah because now we're chatting calmly with a bunch of rational consumers who try everything instead of having to fend off Apple zealots that do nothing but attack and insult and berate.

The guys who come in here trying to pick a fight with us or using the "troll" label are embarrassing themselves.

I think it is a very good question, I must admit that with a larger screen all round I would be very tempted to go back to the iPhone, I have a GS3 at the moment and would not go back if the screen size is as rumoured. I still have an upgrade, I will take a look at the new iPhone, I would also be able to wait for the new Nexus phone when it comes out.

Honestly, it wouldn't take that much for me to go back to the iPhone besides a nice big screen.

People here seem to think I want iOS to be all widgety, but really, I'm fine with downloading from the App store only and a grid of icons. I just want iOS to act more like OSX.

I hear ya, I love using this GS3, Ive had it about 6 weeks and the newness hasn't worn off yet. I will be looking hard at the new iPhone but it hasn't got me as expectant as with previous phones. I really hope we get a nice surprise from Apple. If not, I'm still really happy with this one.

5.5 please....but it HAS to have a very slim bezel, and obviously they have to up their game just a tad. Don't care who takes care of the maps or what not I belive they'll do a good job at it but I want a OS that has features and not just runs apps.
