There doesn't need to be either.
Facebook's popularity is taking a nose dive. Lots of people are leaving.
No one will be using Facebook in the next 2 years.

Are you joking? Regardless that people are leaving Facebook, there is quadruple the amount of people joining every day.

iOS should have deep integration with Facebook; much more than the need for integration with Twitter.

Simple Answer: Yes.

Oh and trust me; Facebook will be massive for many, many years to come.

That's the same thing they said about MySpace.

like "Second Life" ?

I think FB will end up in a bubble ... bloop ...

In the long run I can't see any value out of it except if you are lucky and can sign up for the IPO. I don't see any reason why they would estimate 5bn or worst 100bn US$ value.
But I'm going offtopic ...

The only reason you would join Facebook is the get advertised to.

Like this status. WHY? I click like, then two minutes later, I forget about it.

The advertising just became too much. Fb had got so many issues, along with the people that use it.

I almost never use Facebook anymore other than for events/parties that I'm invited to. I use Twitter as a news aggregator and check it many times a day, so I obviously voted for Twitter.

Facebook is a stalker's paradise. I loathe it. I have a "fake" account with fake info for the only purpose of playing Fruit Ninja Frenzy and Angry Birds. So no, I never want to see Facebook integrated to iOS.

I would be happy if Facebook could make a damn application that worked right. I go to chat and no one that is online shows up, half the time pictures are broken and they usually update like the following:

Chat works, pictures dont.

Next update...

Pictures work, chat doesnt.

Next Update...

Reverse the above.

I'd like both but if I had to choice it'd be Twitter no question. It's just far better suited to the impulse share, on FB too much of that just bores people but on Twitter its the expected behaviour.

I'd like Facebook contacts to be integrated into iOS. You can partially do it already with the Facebook app (turn on contact syncing).

One big advantage would be if someone got a new mobile number, it would be updated (it'd ask your approval first) on your iOS contacts. I like the photo syncing with the Facebook app, but it doesn't update automatically.

Those things aren't for everyone, but I do like having a photo for each contact. Someone noticed once, and was very relieved when I said the Facebook app did it automatically, as they thought I had gone through each person in my contacts list and dropped in a photo!

Though I would like this, Facebook needs to make the app they already have actually work half decently before they get integrated into the OS itself. The third party Facebook apps are better than the official one.

I bought myself a phone with email, texting, IM and calling capability which allows me to be contacted socially anytime. That's enough for me.

I don't need that social media garbage. Enjoy feeding your life to the cloud, lemmings.

Yes I prefer Facebook over Twitter but both should have been integrated from the beginning since everyone has their personal preference.

Exactly.

It takes two to tango - and I think this may be more of Facebook not wanting to than Apple not wanting to.

Even though I don't use either I think Twitter is the better choice. I think Twitter style fits the iOS theme much nicer than Facebook. Twitter = minimal and short straight to the chase

facebook = a bit heavier with loads more features and a bit bloated

+ FB contains their own chat which would conflict with iChat/Messages

----------

That's a bold claim.

I think he is basing it off past trends. I wouldn't be surprised if something else takes over the way things have been going with the internet.

Oh, look what we have here. I guess the end really is near.
