Do you think that removing the chin on the iMac and making it an inch thicker would be an improvement?

I really wish Apple would do this. Come on, it's a DESKTOP, I really don't care how thin it is.

I'd have to see them side by side to be sure. I don't know that i'd care too much if it were an inch thicker, but I do always think it looks nice when they make it thinner, and the chin doesn't really bother me at all.

LOL that looks sweet but the power supply had better be integrated. I HATE those huge bricks!! :D

I think the chin looks pretty good on the iMacs. I also like the thinness when you look at a iMac from the side.

I agree, if I'm sitting in front of it, an inch doesn't make any difference to me. Rather it just look like a "monitor".

definatly thicker. if its sitting on my desk and isnt being moved then i dont care

I agree, since they released these ALU iMacs, I questioned why they didn't make them thicker and reduce the chin...

THAT would have been a major design overhaul. My friend wants an iMac but because of the chin, the monitor will be too high on his already high desk (with low keyboard tray). So until they get rid of the chin or lower the iMac, he will just continue to use his MacBook.

Let's put it this way. I would rather "she" be cute and have a little "bit" on her, rather than be thin and "ugly". Makes perfect sense to me...

I'd rather have a better machine in there than it being thinner. Not fussed about the chin on this design.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next redesign of the iMac looks like the new 24" monitor, just deeper to accomodate the computer piece. Also, that way if you buy an extra 24" monitor to go with it they'd look identical side by side.

Yeah that seems the only logical design change to happen to the iMac. The iMac won't look completely different as the new MacBook has just been designed around the iMac.

Sounds like a good prediction.

I actually like the chin as it distinguishes it from being just a monitor. That is probably why they did it, to make it easier for non-techie people to realize it isn't just a monitor.

Chin and thin. I don't think I could go for a chunky iMac. Look at some of the competition -- that's what you'd get.

The current form factor looks beautiful, it's even better than the white iMac G5/early Intel iMac.

Though the current iMac look great, I would kill to have a iMac that is thicker but can have a better cooling system that can handle a quad core CPU and dual hard drives that are easily accessible.

I couldn't agree more. Give it some more room inside for better cooling.
Who looks at it from the side anyway? It makes it very hard to see the screen and get anything done. Hmmm...maybe if you use mirrors?

Oh, no...some people still think it's a monitor anyway...my mom, my grandmother, my aunt, and even a few friends all asked where the tower was. :D :D

Its a desktop, what is the obsession with it being thin? Do you use it from the side?
apple have been adrift from its old innovation driven ideology but this is the biggest FU to the old Steve Jobs days, flaky os has been standard for a few revisions now but making a mainstay of their desktops a step down from an ipad is the final straw.

stop poncing around apple, make it a full working imac as thick as it needs to be and leave the ipad for the kids
