Let me know how it feels. Smoothness is what I'm always afraid i'll lose with android updates to older phones.

It feels smoother and a little quicker now on 4.3 than previously on 4.1.2 although that is not surprising. 4.3 brought Trim for the first time to Android which means faster running devices. I have been waiting for 4.3 for this reason and it definitely didn't disappoint.

Don't forget, while the Note 2 is one year old, it was the most powerful Android phone available when it was released and nothing was even close to it for awhile. It still holds it's own with a lot of newer phones.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. I just remembered, last time I had a note 2, about 6 or 7 months ago, the screen just seemed so dim. I couldn't even read it outside.

My GN3 arrives later today, quite excited, my iPhone5 auction ends also today, currently at £350 for a 1yr old 32gb version.

Am expecting to be slightly overwhelmed by the GN3 and doubt I will be utilizing the majority of its functions!...mainly looking to use it as a movie viewer with text/email/phone ability.

ios is popular cause everyones family member, including their dog and godfather and even the neighbourhood priest has one. So that must mean its the best right? "Everyone i know has one, so i must get one!" Oh please.

As opposed to your "everyone I know has one, so I must not get one!"

Also, isn't android even more popular than iOS? In fact, I think the market share is way scewed towards android, so even in your quest to go against the crowd, you still managed to go with the popular one!
