The camera bumps drive me crazy on the iPad. I happily would accept a lesser rear camera in exchange for a completely flat back.

The problem is that they are using camera advancements on the iPad as selling points, e.g. AR applications, so reducing their capabilities is highly unlikely.

Someone should sell small stabilizers to even them out if you don't want a case.

The rear camera bump definitely takes away from the experiencing of using the iPad flat on a table. I don’t like the thought of scratching up the rear camera module while sliding it around to change angles while drawing. I personally never use the rear camera on my iPads and could do without them completely.

There's a variety of things like these that would work -

That would be a bad idea, IMO. adding stabilizers to the 3 corners would open up the opportunity for accidental pressure in the middle of the screen to warp the unit or crack the glass.

If I were going to use pads/stabilizers on the back, I'd probably use something slightly taller than the bump and use five - one at each corner and in the center. Like all of my other devices, I'll just use a case when I get mine.

Yeah, there's really no way around it, a case is necessary.

Agreed; I'm just mentioning my own preference. Sounds like I'm not quite alone on this one, though.

I just got my iPad Mini 6 and compared with my 11" iPad Pro (1st gen).
They have the exact same size camera bump.
However, the 11" iPad Pro does not actually rock on a flat table under normal usage, but the iPad Mini does (slightly).
It is a bit annoying using the Apple Pencil on the Mini (as it rocks slightly as you draw around the screen), but is fine on the 11" iPad Pro (at least, on mine).

I will be getting a folio for the Mini (I need some protection for it when I take it out), but I like using the 11" bare. (The iPad, not me :) )

Thanks for the update. Your post is probably the world’s first review of the iPad Mini 6 camera bump.

I wonder if applying a skin like Dbrand would help reduce the rock. They’re less than a mm thick, but may be enough?

Measuring with digital calipers:
Mini 6 case is 6.4 mm thick
Case plus camera bump is 8.2 mm
So camera bump is 1.8 mm

btw, the case for my 11" iPad Pro is slightly thinner at 6.2 mm, but camera bump is the same (1.8 mm)
