neat find. placing the remote horizontally will keep it from obstructing any view of the top right/left but it could possibly scratch the screen.

i dont find this to be useful though since i always close my macbook when not in use to protect the screen and the remote would just get in the way if it were there.

Something even more interesting is that there is a magnet on the left hand center side of the macbooks screen so you can affix it magentically in a vertical position. Oddly enough the magnet is on the opposite side. Still, it is much better then being horizontal. Hope this helps guys!

And I just realized that I have no idea what the Apple Remote does for power... :confusedL

There's one of those flat round batteries in it... Take a pen and push the circular indent in the bottom of the remote and it'll pop open. I need to replace my battery...
