Obviously no one can tell you which way to go, and there are always pros and cons to both sides, but I’ve been happy with my purchase, and I know many others have as well.

That’s great to hear, especially with all the talk of “bendgate” that’s been going on. The new design does look really good and Face ID is great on my iPhone X so I know I will love it on the iPad.

I really like the new design as well. Next to the regular iPad (both off), you just wouldn’t think there would be much difference - the size is so similar. Turned on though, it’s drastic; not only the quality of the screen, but the size. It seems like a much bigger size difference than it really is. (I have the 11” - the 12.9 would be much more of a difference of course)

Face ID couldn’t be more flawless. For someone who really resisted, I’m so glad I wound up caving with my phone AND iPad.

My 2017 iPad Pro is the 12.9” version, I like the bigger display for drawing, photo editing in Pixelmator Pro and games. I didn’t know the screen was better, is it improved over the 2017 version do you know? It’s so tempting I may just give my mother my 2017 iPad Pro and go all in on the new one :)

As somebody who uses the Gen 1 Apple Pencil every day taking notes in class, this is the worst part of the pencil to me. My pencil always rolls off the desk, popping off the cap and making a loud noise. So embarrassing.
How does that happen? The first gen pencil is weighted to one side so it doesn’t roll across a flat desk...

Oh I don’t know if the display is better than the 2017 pro (I’m back with specs). I had sold off my pro and was using a 2018 iPad 6th generation in the interim, so I’m seeing a big difference there for sure!

When I got the Apple Pencil (gen 1), one of the first things I noticed was how much heavier it was than I was expecting. I got used to it though of course and used it everyday. However, I’m now using the second generation Apple Pencil for the first time and it feels so much better in every way. It’s significantly lighter, it’s smaller all around, and the matte finish feels so much nicer to hold and to grip. It sucks the price was increased, but I don’t think this new generation of the pencil has been recognized or praised enough.
It's a little shorter--that's it. Both are 20 grams. Radii also the same. But whatever

I’ve never used the Apple Pencil before. I use Adobe Rush CC everyday, does the Apple Pencil help with apps like that? This is my first time owning a iPad.

Because it was generally acknowledged as one of the the two top stylus implementations?
Yeah, the unusable comment made me lol

The hyperbole sometimes on this forum is really something. It’s like we can’t be objective about our purchases. When we get the latest and greatest, we immediately lose our minds and stop being logical.

I’ve used gen1 pencil for hundreds of hours. For my large hands, its perfect. The charging system isn’t ideal, but the battery lasts longer and you can put a grippy skin on it. I’ve used mine through the first two iPad Pro generations. It’s a remarkable thing to write with it.

Yes, unusable. Bad enough that I returned the iPad Pro 10.5" because of it.
